If possible put the old tray inside the new one this might help.  Or as Gill says tip the old litter into the new tray.

Did you wash the new tray before you put it down to remove all the nasty "shop" smells.
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

You need to transer some of the used liter from the old tray into thenew one and shake it all over the tray and leave some in with clean litter. It probably smells wrong and therefore it needs wearing in, you will have to do this for her. ;D

New litter tray - she wont use it!!

Hi all

Brought Menue a new litter tray today as the other one has a crack in it. Anyway, I have put the new one where the old one was, but she sniffed at it and then walked away.

Later, she began meeowing and scratting at the floor, normally when she does this, its a sign she needs to go pee. So I put a bit of litter in the old tray and she went straight away!

How do I get her to use the new tray? Or should I just keep both side by side?

For a man to truly understand rejection, he must first be ignored by a cat.

Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are God.

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.
