So pleased he is relatively OK and sshould get well quick. Maybe he was in shock after the fall and that caused the problem along with the bruise on his back.

We took Oscar to the vets this morning and our vet gave him a full check up. Nothing serious but there is a sore spot on his back that the vet found so he has been given a 5 day course of medication.  He will be fine though.  Thank god!!   :thanks:

It wasn't our regular vet that saw him and they weren't helpful at all. Just told us to keep an eye on it and bring him back on Monday to see my regular vet.  So it is back to the vets tomorrow morning at 9.40am.   :(

That is disgusting !!!!
Wasn't this person a proper vet then ????
What difference would it make to see your "regular vet" - ??

I would complane tomorrow - and God forbid theres nothing wrong with Oscar !!!!

You are right about that Ela.

I do hope your vet will be able to sort him out and I am sorry that you had such a wasted and stressful visit.................its really not good enough, vets are supposed to care about animals.

maybe we need an independent reugulator for standars of vets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not the first time that this sort of comment has been posted on here recently. I feel it is not good enough, I thought the idea of vet cover was to do the job as it should be done and that is  to deal with all aspects of vet care. Not to fob you off and let your own vet decide later. I bet you will pay the full consultation fee therefor you should expect a proper responce.

How's Oscar doing JoAnn?

The difficult thing about cats is that they hide illnesses very well from their humans, so with anything like a fall you mentioned it's best to get the cat checked out.

Can you let us know how he is?

It`s hard to know what it could be without seeing the shaking but maybe this shaking is because Oscar is in some kind of pain. They can hide pain very well so he may well carry on eating etc even if he doesn`t feel great. I would get him to the vets as soon as they are open to see what they say. Good luck with him, i hope he`s ok.

If it was my cat I personally would be ringing the vet now if it were in a ball and shaking, its about time he /she got up anyway. They should tell you if they need to see the little one now or if it can wait for another 3 hours or so.

Please let us know how Oscar is later.

Extremely worried!!
« Reply #1 on: February 10, 2007, 05:30:00 AM »
Oscar had an accident on Thursday afternoon. He tried to jump onto the kitchen unit but missed and landed on the hard floor on his back not his feet.  He seemed to be fine and wasn't limping or appeared to be in pain.  On Thursday night his entire body started to shake slightly.  I wouldn't call it twitching more like a tremor and it was constant for an hour.  I kept an eye on him and by Friday morning he had stopped and was fine.  Last night he started shaking again and it hasn't stopped all night.  I've been awake all night watching him and its getting me more worried by the second.  He is currently lying in the middle of the living room floor (which is something he never does.  He prefers to lie on the comfy bed or the sofa), curled into a ball just shaking.  He doesn't appear to be in any pain at all. He can still run around, jump and do normal kitty things but as soon as he lies down this shaking starts.  I am taking him to the vets as soon as it opens today to get him checked but if anyone has any advice on what this could be that would be very much appreciate.

(ignore any spelling mistakes or words joined together I am using my fiances laptop and I can never seem to type properly on it!  )
