Oh my goodness, is that why my big cats dont like the birmans  :rofl:

Misa and Sasa are welsh and the birmans are english but so am I  :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

I tryed the spray and Sasa would not go anywhere that it had been sprayed.

Lol well research has been done that actually proves that dolphins, monkeys and sheep from different areas have different accents so could be interesting when Miss Boopy meets Bilbo and Tigger if cats also have different accents  :rofl:

Should be fun to see what she thinks of people speaking English to her as she will only be used to people speaking French/German lol.

Not long now until she gets home, 8th May!  :cheer: :cheer:

The bedroom door will be completely shut all the time so the diffuser will not be spreading through the house though which is why I was worrying.

I've got a Feliway spray that I bought to use at cat shows and I don't think it has made any difference to Bilbo (he's been even more hissy since I started using it lol) but I thought the diffuser was worth a try to make Miss Boopy nice and calm once she reaches the UK and has to adapt to a new house, new smells and people talking a foreign language lol.

Well my living room is defiinitely smaller than 50 square metres and I would imagine most people's are!  Granted I never shut the door completely, but I've had a feliway diffuser in there since last April.  I think my room's a bit bigger than yours, Charlotte, but not a lot.  I would also recommend getting the spray too as that's more concentrated and instant whereas the diffuser takes a while to kick in.  I think it's very effective - I take a spray to the cattery when they go to help them settle in.  I have the diffuser in the living room and give the rest of the flat an occasional spray.  I have sprayed the living room when the diffuser has been in use.  I wouldn't have thought you could overdose on it but tbh that had never occurred to me.

Lottie another thing from what I heard from other peeps the time it takes to work is relative. Some cats don't respond at all. Lexy responded within hours. Ergo...I always have a couple diffusers in the house.

Thanks, Kittybabe  :Luv:  In fact, I use Feliway here to calm Blip and it really seems to help a lot.

My response was because I worry myself into a state that people think (in general) that anything natural is safe.  I understand that's not what you were saying here.

Understood Christine, however, what I meant by this is that its natural to cats...its meant to be the same product of pheromones cats produce which make them feel safe and comforted. I see your point though as to how people can interpret this.

I have emailed VetUK and asked them about the room size issue, how long it takes to work and checking it is ok to use with pregnant cats so hopefully I'll get a reply back just to double check these things.

A word of general caution (NOT criticism) but if a 'natural' product actually works, it will certainly be possible to overdose it.  If it is impossible to overdose, then, basically, it's probably not doing anything much.

Lottie had a read and it says nothing about smaller sized rooms. I've been on their website as well and here is the link to the Frequently Asked Questions. Since its a natural product there should be no overdose issues. In fact they state that in difficult situations you should use both spray and diffuser.  If there was any adverse affect they would publish it here.

I'd ask Vet UK!  They will be able to give you the definitive answer to both questions.  I know from personal experience that they answer customer enquiries very efficiently.

Feliway Diffusers

I am thinking about getting a Feliway diffuser to use in a few months time when Miss Boopy comes home and I noticed on the info online it says that one diffuser is enough for 50-70sq metres. I will be using it in a room that is 17 sq metres and I was just wanting to check that it is ok to use them in rooms of this size. Don't want to overdose poor Miss Boopy lol.

How long do they take to have an effect?
