Great links Horza....I always keep the posts (ones covered in sisal rope) when the other parts become too weak (good tip)....Il see if I can coax the OH into making a big scratcher for the cats  ;D

Cats are like little bundles of razor blades wrapped in soft fur.

Suggestions & Advices on a home made cat tree?
« Reply #1 on: October 29, 2007, 13:51:08 PM »
Now Christmas is slowly approaching, I got this idea to make a custom made cat tree/scratching post for Oliver.  My partner Cristiano wouldn't mind the idea at all, he loves working with tools and building things and quite deft at it, and he would be totally up for it. (Well, if he can manage it all in time that is... which is the biggest problem!! )

Now we will have to start with the consideration of design, material etc., which must be done carefully as we all know how the whims of our furry masters are...
Has anyone have constructed your own with success?  What kind of materials, structures would be likely to be a hit for our furbabies?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!! ;)
