Title: Best Cat Litter for 4 Cats?
Post by: Hightime on May 31, 2013, 21:18:33 PM
Hello folks,

What is the best cat litter for a household that has four cats?  I'm buying a fairly cheap one at the moment and am wondering if it's better to buy a more expensive one that may end up lasting longer.  I am an expat in Saudi so my choices are limited but sometimes they do have some variety here.

I saw one today called Heritage Antibacterial or something.

What do you guys use?  And do you think it will make a difference changing or should I just stick with what I have since there are four cats and no matter what litter I get their production will guarantee that the results will always be the same?

Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong sub-forum.

I use chicken feed.

Yes, truly, the ground corn meal they feed baby chicks on is the exact same stuff Worlds Best Cat Litter make their hugely expensive product from.

Google chick crumb (or baby chicken feed) and see what pops up in Saudi - someone must be farming chickens out there?

I dont know what choice you have and what type of litter you use at present........clumping, wood pellets etc etc.

I use wood pellets but one imparticular that I dont think will be available to you.....Smart Cat and although mant would say the pellets are all the same, they are not and these last longer.

I would tend to stick with what your kittys are used to, pellets, clumping etc...........tbh none last that long  :innocent:

I am a big fan of oko plus cats best, if you can get it. it is also flushable and compostable, but I doubt you have a compost facility where you are?

It is a more expensive, but lasts much longer

I've never heard of the Heritage stuff but googled out of interest and found this link.

http://www.grocer2me.co.uk/pet/heritage-anti-bacterial-cat-litter.html

£3 for 5 litres doesn't sound at all bad if you can collect but I imagine the delivery costs would be high.  Like Sheila I too use baby chick crumb feed.

To be honest I don't like mention of "anti bacterial" so I try to avoid that.
