hi and welcome to all of you!

Hello Barbara and welcome to Purrs, nice to have someone else down this neck of the woods, I'm in Gosport, on the south coast. :welcome:
-
Hey Lesley, my Dad lives in Alverstoke!!!
-
He must be very near me then ;D
-
He lives in Park Road. The Creek end!
-
I know where you mean. I live off Galemoor Avenue, Gomer Lane end.
-
So, not meaning to be thick or anything.....but.....do you run a kitten rescue then?
-
Yes, I run a kitten and cat rescue (I try to keep it to kittens as quarantine for older cats is getting harder as there are also 27 resident cats here at the moment - ones that have come in with medical problems, too feral to be re-homed, etc, etc.
-
Aww Bless you Lesley! If you ever need any help, give me a shout!!!!
-
A warm welcome to you and your house full of furries! :welcome:
Look forward to seeing some piccies!

Hello Barbara
What a lovely surprise to " meet " another local...I live in Bordon and used to live in Calender Close and worked at the hospital!!!!! What a small world. I thought Leslie and Claire were my nearest!
So looking forward to hearing all about your furbabies and seeing piccies ;D ;D
This is a brilliant site and I've become totally addicted to it. It's so good to chat to other cat mad folks who all understand.

Hi Gibraltarcat! Many years ago, (22) my hubby and myself went to view a flat in Calendar Close!!! But ended up on the Greenfields Estate. My friend Kate Parkes works at the Hospital, on Anstey ward!!! Perhaps you may know her? There are a few people who work there that I know. I got one of my dogs from Bordon!!
-
Hello again
I think I've met Kate through a friend. Will check with her. I worked on Anstey ward for about a year after AGH closed!!!! Am now retired and do some voluntary work at Cats Protection.
-
For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the lovely lady from Cats Protection, (I think she lives in that area,) but, she and her friends helped me with the Veterinary costs of a cat that I rehomed last year! he is called Marley, and was found in the middle of the A31 in Farnham. He was taken to Amery Vets, who cared for him, and we willingly gave him a home. After a few weeks he had a front leg amputated, as he had nerve damage and would never recover the use of it. I wrote to this lovely lady, thanking her and her friends for their kind generosity, and gave her an update of Marley.
If you know her name, I would love to give her a new update !!
We have 2 young girls that have recently moved into one of the flats where we live, who also work for the C.P.
-
Sorry not to have replied earlier but bit hectic at the moment!! If the lady was from Farnham CP her name was either Rhoda or Rhona. I have heard though that the branch has closed down fairly recently, which is so sad. I help out at Haslemere, which is a big CP adoption shelter.
Marley sounds a delight and can't wait to see piccies of them all. I've got Sweep and jonty, both rescue cats and they mean the world to me. Would like another one but Sweep has shown her disapproval !!
-
I remembered it!!! Her name is Kate Chapman, and she lives over in Liss Forest somewhere. The Vet from Amery vets speaks very highly of her.(I think he has attended to some of the cats that she has in her care.) My Hubby is saying that it was the RSPCA that helped us with Marleys vet fees, I`m saying that it was the CPL!! Ahh well!!
You can tell it`s getting very cold outside, all my cats are inside and hogging the sofa!!! ha ha!
-
Oh, how funny.... My Sweep came from Kate!!!!! I fostered for her for a year when I lived in Liss Forest and Sweep and her kittens were my first customers. All the kitts were rehomed and I kept Sweep. That was 11 years ago. I haven't seen her for months but she's still working hard. Jonty was a stray in Gibraltar. I go out there occasionally, stay with friends and hepl out at their cat sanctuary. Fell in love with him and was mad enough to use my savings to fly him here last July.
-
Small world!!! What a lucky cat Jonty is? And, what a big softy you are!!!!! Thing is, if you love something, you gotts have it!!!! I`m pathetic when it comes to animals! I see it....I want it.
When I got Nugget, he was so tiny at 4 months, (size of a coke tin) the vet told us to keep an eye on him when we let him out in the garden as he might get carried off by a magpie or something!! :evillaugh:
