Title: Re: Man Charged with offence of cat cruelty. WARNING VERY UPSETTING
Post by: puggy1975 Zoe on November 21, 2006, 18:54:13 PM
This was on the BT Internet news. This person should be put down and never allowed to have animals. I just cant beleive what i read

details below:-

A man who fed a live cat to his Staffordshire bull terrier has been sentenced to four months in a detention centre.

Callum Myers, 18, pleaded guilty to failing to protect a cat from injury at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court earlier this month.

CCTV footage taken at the back of an address in Clifton Road, in Marsh, Huddersfield, on March 15 this year showed Myers dangling the domestic cat above his dog, Gypsy.

He then stood back allowing the dog to savage the cat to death. The cat's owners were able to identify their pet, Tigger, by its collar.

Sentencing at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court, chairman of the bench Stuart Blakey said it was "one of, if not the worst" cases of animal cruelty to come before the court.

He said: "It was a horrible death and you stood by and witnessed it and did nothing to prevent it. Your actions on this day were repulsive."

Myers was also given a 20-year ban from keeping animals.

I saw this story in the Times a few week ago. It mentioned that he'd also fed a puppy to his dog as well.

And he'd shown no remorse about the cat, but felt a bit bad when his dog was PTS.

Can we please moderate this title, this is extremely upsetting and not something I wish to scream out at me when logging on.

Thank you.

As requested have tried to change topics title but only succeeded on first post.

Some members have been upset just by the title so would be very gratefull when posting anything of this nature not to go into graphic detail in the title and to put a warning that the content is upsetting , in the title

Thanks very much.

lets just hope there are some animal lovers in the detention centre and that he gets his just deserts. I would not hesitate for a split second >:(

This is why I never buy a newspaper any more and haven't done for over 10 years I cannot bear to read about any cruelty . What really hurts me is that pets trust us implicitly. They rely on us for food and affection and protection. Tigger never thought for one moment that he was in any danger because man had never harmed him before so he probably didn't even attempt to escape.
Its the breaking of that trust that breaks my heart

I always wonder what has happened to this child to turn him into someone that could do something like that so young. I hope he gets the help he needs.

He doesn't deserve help. He deserves the business end of a lethal injection syringe. People like that are beyond redemption, and serve no useful purpose to society.

Calm down, BBs dad... this is obviously an incredibly damaged kid, yes he's done something awful, worse than awful... but don't you wonder why? What's wrong with him or his life that he's gone so low so young? I think it would be a wonderful achievement for our society if we could rehabilitate someone like that, I know sometimes we do manage it.

:evillaugh: Sorry Rebecca, I sounded more agressive than was my intention. I just find the act of intentionally causing harm to a defenceless creature (be it animal, child, whatever) to be one of the most abhorrent things a human can do, regardless of upbringing or past events. I do believe that some people (this guy included) are beyond redemption and as such deserve no second chance.
