Trapping Help needed - Burnley Area

Kelly - they need help with the trapping, they are willing to sort out vouchers for the neutering, and had mentioned helping with any blood testing.
Gill - from what the lady said, they had used it to scare them, by saying that by feeding them and giving them shelter, they were effectively 'owning' them, and therefore they were responsible for their care.

What's amazing is that if this colony has been in existance for 5 years, how come there's only 14 adults? 

The RSPCAs attitude to ferals doesn't surprise me. Even self confessed cat lovers sometimes turn away...

What part of the new law says that any cat should starve, in fact what part of law doesnt say this is cruelty by the ones who are supposed to be policing it.

I dont see how they can use the new law to stop feeding any cats and in this case how would this help anyone.

We all know that these idiots tell people not to feed long term strays so they will maybe go away.

Where is the Prevention of Cruelty that they have in their name. It seems to me that its all about not spending all those donations they have and stick heads in the sand and dont see the problem or eliminate by murder

If they were told it would only cause a vacuum effect they may be happy to feed a stable neutered colony. Theres always more to fill a gap.

I'm sad to say Gill that I live 10 mins away from Burnley. Not sure how much help I'll be though Desley - what type of help are they looking for? Oh and local paper for Edenfield is the Free Press (sorry that is unbelievably late )

Exactly Dawn!! At the moment, the neighbours are feeding them, but the RSPCA are trying to use the new law to prevent them doing this, so whether they would be happy to continue doing so I dont know, although it obviously isnt good for the kittens to stay there, there are some up to the age of approx 12 weeks, so they could prob do with finding a space somewhere (RSPCA did say they would help with transport for that!!).

I cannot really help with traps, not well enough at the moment  but if I can possibly do any driving or whatever I'd be happy to.

What is the point trapping them and then releasing them again without being neutered        If you send me the details Des, I'll put a plea out and see if there's anyone in that area that can help. 

What exactly are they wanting,  I take it they want the ferals trapping and relocating?

Have had a phone call from Warth Valley CP this evening, asking for help to trap a feral colony in the Burnley area - the RSPCA are involved, but any sickly cats/kittens that are trapped are being pts, and healthy ones are just being released without being neutered - turns out they have been aware of this colony for the past 5 years, and are now telling the people to stop feeding them!! They are approx 14 adults and some kittens, some of which are apparently 'fluey', and some have bad eyes. They are too far away for either of us to trap, but they are willing to help with paying towards neutering. IF anyone can help, can they pm or e-mail me, and i shall pass details on. Thanks.
