The vet nurses at the practice have been trying every rescue centre they can find as they don't want to see him PTS. They said they won't let the vet do that (bless them). Blue Cross may be able to take him, and they are going to let me know asap. If not, I have told them to let me know as there may be a place in Brighton. Maybe I could do part of the journey to Brighton. I'll have to check to see how far it is from me.

What little  :censored:  :censored:  :censored:  If they get a log number, they will pay up to £60 for treatment, sometimes more depending on the problem.  It just shows how some vets are in it for the money, if they weren't, they wouldn't allow an animal to suffer  :censored:  :censored:

Tan, if he was taken in to the Vets as a stray can they not phone the RSPCA and get a log number to at least sort his teeth out.   When I worked at the Vets, if a cat was bought in as a stray, we phoned the RSPCA and got a log number, could carry out any emergency work on them up to about £50 and then RSPCA would collect from us.

Just spoke to Jen and she is ringing back Brenda at Bmth CP to see if she has managed to find room for him. The vet (grrrrr) have all ready rang rang all the rescues in the area and no space at all.

The worst thing is that this poor lad has been at the vets a week and needs treatment on his teeth, a Felv and Fiv test and the vets won;t do anything as they won;t pay for it. They have only given him antibyotics. The babe was brought in by someone saying he was a stray  and they had been feeding him for 5 mths but the vets thought he was so well looked after that they were fibbing and it's their cat but can't afford the treatment he needs for his teeth. They say he is only young.

Waiting to hear from Jen if Brenda has found space.

If no one can help out with transport then I can do my bit here, just will be very late.

Because of work I can't do transport today, but maybe able to help tonight or tomorrow night. I can drive down from London and pick up and take?  Will be very late though and I have to be back in London for work tomorrow and of course my own babe so we're talking after midnight.

suppose it's different for you because you have fosterers, doing it from home,

Exactly and my reply was to I thought about a CP branch.

I know what you mean Dawn, as I've said previously, if it was not for hubby I would be like that woman in Italy with 139 cats!!

but sometimes I just have to say no.

I do know what you are saying it is just that I could not say no if I knew a cat would be PTS and could go on to lead a worthwile life. I would never be able to live with myself again. It saddens me now to authorise PTS like I did a few mins ago for a cat I have never seen but in a bad way and no chance of full recovery, although I know I did the right thing.

I suppose it's different for you because you have fosterers, doing it from home, you only have so much space plus hubby to contend with when he sees his arse because my lounge and dining room has turned into a cattery.  The best I can do is put pleas out and hope a miracle happens.

Young puss shouldnt be too difficult to rehome.

I wish

ditto.  If Meg had have been caged, I would have had a space because she's going out today but my house is littered with cages at the moment so I just can't and I've got a spare one for Car Park Charlie and that's it.   I'm having a set to on my shed over the next couple of days and hopefully it won't be such a panic when I get emergencies in.

My local brach is overrun but we are trying to find space, but it's not looking hopeful.

We are always overrun but I can honestly say we would never see a little one PTS because we were full.

Maybe not Ela but we can't work miracles and I wouldn't pts but sometimes I just have to say no.  I've got 5 kittens I have to pick up today, god knows where they are going to go  :tired: :tired:  And I've got the added bonus of a mature tom that will have to stay overnight until I can get him in the vets for the chop  :scared:

I can get him from New Milton to Gosport, if anyone can then do Gosport to Brighton.

Tan (or any south coasters) do you know anyone who could do Gosport to Ron's at Hove?

Jenny, try giving Jayne at Pound Kitten Rescue a call.  They are probably full too but you never know.  Jayne is near Poole.  She may be a bit too far away though.   http://cats.dogrescue.net/
Hope someone can help the lad.

Have the vets really tried? Are they perhaps keen to go further afield if tranposrt could be arranged?

Have his teeth been fixed?

Surely if they try abit further afield i am sure they will find something... Young puss shouldnt be too difficult to rehome.

I can probably convince OH to take him in on a temporary basis but he is really struggling with the amount of cats we have at home at the moment, and the spare room is now out of bounds completely due to Tia giving birth on Sunday.  If there is someone who can give him a more permanent home, I would be happy to go and get him.

Tan & Lesley live over that way - maybe they know someone who can help. I will email Pinkbear and see if she can dust her spare room. This cat is not going to be PTS. I will go and get him myself if nothing else can be done.

Hampshire is in the south. New Milton is between Bournemouth and Southampton on the south coast (above the Isle of Wight on a map)

I went to the vet this morning with my foster mum cat and kittens, and they asked if my local CP branch had any room to take a friendly but slightly nervous large black young neutered male cat. He has dental problems but is still able to eat. He has been with the vet for a week now and they haven't been able to find a rescue that has any room. They will put him to sleep if they can't find anywhere within 2 days.

If anyone thinks they may have some room, please let me know. The cat is in New Milton in Hampshire.

Thanks

Jenny
