Vet just called.

Memphis isn't coming home tonight  :'(

He didn't pass anything whilst sedated. He got knocked out and a catheter inserted. There was a definite large blockage in his Urethra. They had a look at his urine and couldn't see any crystals. He said it could be a stone but he would expect to see some crystals. They've flushed out his bladder several times and are keeping him in on the catheter tonight. Tomorrow morning Matt is going to phone with a progress report and he will either be able to come home or stay in with the catheter for another night. So I either get him tomorrow or Friday .. Matt says he wants Memphis home by the weekend.

He explained how he will be fine with the catheter in but without it he could get blocked up again almost immediately  :'( and something about the Urethra going into spasm. There was a lot of information to take in.

Thank you so much Leanne  I honestly don't what's going on as he's my first cat and I've never had any experience of this or even what caused it  :(

Sedating and catherising Memphis is the best thing for him, he'll be okay as you caught it early.

Well i'm back without my boy  :'(

Matt poked around his belly, raced out to get a consent form, I signed it then Memphis got rushed out the back ... he does have a blocked bladder which is VERY full. He did some squeezing and a few drops came out. Memphis is being sedated right now in the hope his bladder empties. If not he's going to be admitted for 24 hours with a catheter.

Matt has declared it as an Emergency so I was right something is very, very wrong. He said it's a very good job I brought him in immediately. I'm in a state of shock as yesterday he was completely fine in himself he was his usual crazy self.

I'm getting a phonecall within the next hour as to what's going on .. I might be able to go get him today (next door has said just give him a shout), or I might be able to bring him home tomorrow (I can bring him home on my driving lesson). Either way I need my bouncing baby  :'(

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my neighbours. Just got in and a raced to the door begging for a lift and he said not a problem! Lift is sorted. I've got Memphis in his carrier and he screamed in pain  :( I didn't do anything but his back end seems incredibly tender just the slightest touch seems to hurt  :'(

Memphis in vets with Blocked Bladder - *He's fixed now*
« Reply #1 on: November 12, 2008, 13:28:47 PM »
He's having major wee problems as well  :'(

It started off with him going in his litter tray twice within a short time frame (first sign), then he got where he knew I could see him and got in a wee position (2nd sign), I took him up to his litter tray he he didn't want to know it. So I took him and his litter tray in the kitchen and emptied it out. Whilst doing that he assumed the wee position on the empty plastic bag, for 10 minutes he tried and tried and tried but nothing came out. He's been trying for the past 70 minutes now, all around the kitchen with no success apart from 2 drops. He's very stressed and appears to be in a lot of pain. I've been running around like a mad fly trying to find some transport as he's too heavy for me to carry (Grrrrrrr no car  >:()

Turns out the appointment I've got is the earliest he could be seen anyway.

He was totally fine yesterday.

Fingers cross for my little man please.

Sorry for typos and if it doesn't make sense. Not really in a very good state right now.
