Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I'm fairly new to keeping a cat too. We inherited my brother in laws cat in October after she lost her brother and would no longer go outside. They didn't like having an indoor cat apparantly :(
She's 8 years old, and she's absolutely gorgeous; you couldn't ask for a nicer cat. She's a bit crazy. She has a tendency to run up and down the stairs, round and round in circles, and then scratch the carpet for a while after eating or using the litter tray.
She's become fat during her first few months here. She's not over fed. If anything she's underfed, so I can only conclude that she's not exercising enough too.
Oh poop .. I was going to show you a picture of her, only my website doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Oh well; I'll try and get one up later :)

:welcome: I'm a fairly 'newbie' too - although I've had cats in the past (and now) I certainly wouldn't call myself an 'expert' in any way shape or form!! However, I'm wondering........does your cat go outside now? Or is she either not able to, or still not interested? You say that she might need to exercise more? Do you play with her - get her to chase balls/jump up to toys or whatever? Play is a good substitute for exercise.........perhaps one of those laser toys from the shop on this site? I wish you well...

:welcome: to Purrs, Nim. Glad you found us and decided to join. If you want to give your cat - what is her name, by the way - more exercise, I can recommend Da Bird from the Purrs shop ;D

Hi,
Sorry, her name is Sienna. I don't know why I didn't think to say so before. She tends to get called Sisi, Miaow, or Kitten though. Among other things lol. She answer to none. Actually, she answers to the sound of the dry food being shaken in its .. erm .. tub thing.
She does go out; in fact she was so desperate to go out after a week with being with us that she jumped out of the bedroom window. We don't have a catflap though so she can only go out when we let her out; which we always do if she asks nicely, unless we're just going out ourselves. She only tends to go out for about ten minutes at a time .. and when she goes out, she just sits on the shed outside the window. So she isn't actually getting any exercise when out.
I do play with her yes. As much as I can. She doesn't like to play much though. She'll play for about five minutes and then run away and hide; peer at you from around a corner or the bottom of the stairs until she's sure you're not going to taunt her with toys anymore. OR she starts biting.

:-: Hmmmm - how about an over-sized hamster wheel :sneaky: :evillaugh:?! Sorry, Sienna - not a lot of good as a suggestion, I know - but you've got me stumped........
-
Well, we do have an oversized hamster wheel .. for the rats .. but they ignore it lol.

;)I am new too! How do i get a signature on here? If anyone can help me please get in touch. Thanks :thanks:

It's the same on most forums. You see at the top there's a list of buttons across the screen. Click on the one that says 'Profile'.
This will take you to your profile (obviously). On the left there is a box of two parts. The top part says Profile Info. Below that is titled Modify Profile. The second link down is 'Forum Profile Information'. Click that.
About a third of the way down is the section in which you can put your signature.
