As you will all know, my beloved Max went to the Bridge a few weeks ago.
We hadn't really thought of getting another cat quite so soon :shy: but I think the fickle paw of fate has been at work, and I heard from my friend at CP that a little FIV boy had come into the rescue, and was living in the garage as the pens are full to bursting.
We went to meet him last Friday, and he is an absolute Babe, he current called Patch, but he will be called Poot, aka Mr P. He's somewhere between 1-2 and was neutered and vet checked on Monday whilst we were on holiday.
We're really excited, and he's coming to live with us on Friday, so 2 more sleeps ;D ;D
Went shopping today to buy new litter tray, food bowls etc, and a feliway diffuser as I'm not sure how many Maxy smells might still be around that we're just so used to, so it might help him settle quicker.
He's such a little cutie, really give you big headbutts, licks your fingers then gently nibbles them, and likes cuddles - here he is at the rescue :Luv:

I think Maxy would certainly approve, in fact I think he had a massive paw in making us meet, so he could give another FIV baby the chance of a loving forever home where he will be spoiled rotten :Luv:

Today was tinged with sadness as I bought Max's ashes back today, but he's back with us, which is where he should be :)
I'm excited though in equal measure today, and I genuinly can't wait to see how this little boy settles in, what he's like, what he likes to play with, just so many things to learn as they are all so different!
We having a mad cleaning frenzy now to make sure everything is nice for when he comes on Friday! I reckon he's gonna be a trouble maker lol, he's got that look about him, but he's ever so affectionate so my guess is I'll forgive him everyting anyway, I'm such a soft touch :evillaugh:
I've just sorted out his insurance with Axa, it was a bit more than I expected (about £9 a month), but as their cover was so good, and they were so excellent with Max, I'm prepared to pay a bit more to get good cover. They were still cheaper than Petplan, their really good one was about £20 a month!!!!! Tesco were about £6 a month, but the cover didn't look any where near as good, so I'm sticking to what I know :shy:

WERE BACK!!!!
Next door are being a pain and having windows fitted, so lots of loud bangs which is not great for settling in Poot :doh:
He's pretty nervous at the moment, he's found himself a hidey hole under the stairs, but he's been for a little wander. It must be overwhelming for him, having gone from a garage to a 3 storey house!!! Lots of new smells and stuff, but he's had a bit of food, and has had a sniff at the litter tray, so hopefully he just needs to gain a bit of confidence, slowly but surely.
When he does come out he gives you a massive headbut :Luv: :Luv2:

Well, he's being a bit more adventourous now, and has found is way to the toy basket, and broken into the tesco bag with the catnip banana :evillaugh: He evidently loves catnip and is now completely stoned :rofl:
He's been rolling around on the carpet, and cleaning himself which I take to be a good sign that he's relaxed. He headbutted me really hard inthe nose just now, so I need to watch out for that, his head is made of brick I think :evillaugh:
We've been taking a few photos so far, I'll get them uploaded soon, but so far so good :Luv2:

When I got Bonnie I was a bit worried about her smelling Smudge all over the house but I reckon it made her feel at home knowing another cat had been ther and it was safe. Hopefully that will be the way Poot thinks too.

I've experimented with wooden pellets in a spare tray as well, just in case he just hates the chick crumb and that's why he didn't use it?

It might be the cat nip that made him pee in your handbag you know or did you take it to the rescue where you got him from ?, maybe that is telling you that he doesnt want to go back there and he wanted to get rid of the smell of it ! OK a bit far fetched but you never know.

Well there's nothing wrong with this little man's appetite!!! He hoovers a whole pouch of Whiskas down in one go, I'm not sure how many to feed him at the mo, probably 2-3 a day I would think as he needs building up a bit, but I'm conscious that I don't want him to balloon!!
Still no tray action so far, but he did have a root around in there earlier, so he does know where it is now at least.
We've had lots of cuddles on the floor, and lots more headbutts too :evillaugh: He kneads a lot too, my legs are very pinpricked today, so my tennis skirt could look interesting tomorrow :rofl:
He really is a lovely boy, he's very quiet and shy, but does know how to play, albeit in short doses. He was chasing the feather on a stick earlier, but when he caught it he ran away to hide, only to come out and do it again :evillaugh: He also doesn't seem to like it on the bed, so whether he wasn't allowed in the bedroom in his last home I'm not sure, we know nothing about his history whatsoever!
Gonna go play some more now I think, and give him a bit of lunch if he's hungry :Luv2:

He was using wood pellets with an open tray, so I've done the same, but still nothing in the tray so far ........ but saying that, I've not found any little suprises anywhere either ......... so far :doh: :shy:

With ref to putting weight on him you may find it difficult at the mo, I mentioned that leggie stage that my Oscar is in, well he eats like a horse and still looks the same! :Crazy:
As long as they a fit though thats all that matters! :)

Although he looks really skinny, he is still quite solid, if that makes sense! He is just really long, and has massively long legs :evillaugh:
He found the tray for wees and poos last night which is fab! Just want to try and coax him downstairs with the tray now, so will be doing that over the next day or so, then hopefullly think about switching litters too as the wood stuff just tracks everywhere :doh:
He came up on the bed this morning for a cuddle, then settled at the bottom for a few minutes, before getting excited and going off to explore again! He's definitely getting more confident as the hours go on, he is such a little babe and I've already fallen head over heels for this little darling :Luv: :Luv:

Wees and poos in the tray again this morning, so think that was just a minor settling in glitch on the first day :Luv2:
He is such a cutie, he's following me around everywhere at the moment, which is just so cute :Luv:
He's getting so much more inqusitive now as well, stands on his back legs to look in the loo, the bath etc, and makes these little chirrupy noises at the same time.
Still headbutting with gusto, and licking has taken on a new force, my whole face got a washing yesterday, with a very rough tonge lol, I won't need to exfoliate for at least a week :evillaugh:
I really didn't want to come to work today, but I did get up mega early to spend some time with him before I left. J will be around this afternoon so he won't be on his own all day, and I'll try and pop back at lunchtime too if I get the chance.
He's such a fab little boy, but he does the biggest poos I've ever seen for a small cat :rofl:

Another good evening yesterday in the Poothouse!
He's turning into a complete cuddle monster :Luv2: :Luv: Before he was quite reticent about getting up onto the furniture, you had to pretty much lift him onto the sofa, but he wouldn't really stay for long, would be off exploring again :evillaugh: Yesterday he jumped up on his own while I was having a bath (J was in the room but on the computer), and stayed there to have a snooze! That' the first time he's taken a snooze in the open, and not gone under the bed where its quiet, so thats real progress. I went and sat next to him, and he turned round, gave me a headbut on the chin, licked me, then settled back down facing me with his paws resting on my legs :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: Lets just say dinner was very late last night as I didn't want to move him :Luv:
He is just such a babe, and is growing more confident by the day, he must have slept outside bedroom last night as he started chirruping when he heard the alarm go off at 7!!!

We had a friend pop round last night, and Poot was a very good boy, no running upstairs to hide under the bed this time, he stayed out in the lounge, then popped over to give him a sniff and a little headbutt :) :Luv2:
He's continuing to do really well, still eating like a monster, and litter tray all fine still so that's all good :)
One thing I've noticed with him is that when he's tired, you can see his third eyelid - it sort of comes across a bit, then when he opens his eyes wider it disappears again? You could never really see Max's as it was black, and he was of course all black as well so you never noticed it. Is this normal?
Oh, and I got a proper little miaow from him this morning, he sleeps outside the bedrooms on the little landing, and he does little chirrups, but I actually got an open mouthed miaow as well today, really quiet, but ever so cute :Luv2: :Luv:

I figured as much, he seems absolutely fine in himself, not even the hint of a sniffle, and it is only when he's sleepy, otherwise you can't see it. I'll monitor, and he does get any sniffles, then I'll get him checked out being FIV.

I have the same with Hobbes when he is falling asleep, as he closes his eyes you can see the third eyelid but then it goes away when he opens them. I was a bit worried when I first saw it but I've realised it is normal for him. I can vouch for the fact that Hobbes is very healthy (especially last night when he was chasing Dylan at bedtime :rofl:)

Clare, I am so pleased that Poot has settled in well and it is obvious that he is very happy in his new home. He is so gorgeous, such stunning markings and a sweet little panda face in the photo round the table legs. I am sure that Max found him for you at just the right time.

Ive only ever broken one, I shanked the ball so badly the string went pop at the top :evillaugh:
You're more likely to break strings if you use lots of topspin, so not always about how hard you hit the ball, although that's obviously a factor.
Makes no difference to me, soon as mine get furry my very lovely tennis coach person restrings it for me :shy:

Hmmm, didn't manage to get any pics last night, Poot wore himself out with a running around session just before I got home apparently, so he was snoozy boy on the sofa most of the evening!
He made up for it though by hooning around during the night, I know I heard him pouncing on his Primark bag in the lounge at about 3am :evillaugh:
His Auntie Tessa came round last night for some snuggles and chirrupy meows (she hadn't heard them before :Luv2: ) and got a lap cuddle as well, so she was very honoured :) She commented that the change in him in a week is just amazing, he's so much more confident and does mega purrs now as well, which is excellent :Luv:
I'll have a go at getting some new pics tonight, and make sure J doesn't wear him out too early today :evillaugh:
He was also wandering around in the bedroom a bit more this morning, and had tail up not tail down, which I guess means more confidence. He still won't come up on the bed though, but maybe that will just take a bit more time, if he even wants to come up at all :Luv2:

Last night, he came up on the bed for a cuddle ......... a 20 minute cuddle!!! Full snuggle in the crook of my arm cuddle as well with purr factor 10!!!!

Mr Poot has taken bed cuddles up to a new level today ............ woke up to find him sleeping by my feet (this has happened quite a few times now :) ), and he came up the bed to lie on my tummy as he saw I was awake :Luv2: :Luv:
He stayed there for ages, did a little bit of paddling, but settled down and had a snooze, after chomping on my fingers first :Luv:
Not sure why he does it, he does gentle nibbles normally, but this morning he had the whole of my little finger in his mouth and was chomping on it with teeth - only gently though, but did feel very strange, I could not stop giggling :evillaugh:
