Just in case someone may be looking and has reported this cat missing...
Was driving back from visiting a friend last night and on the A1101 between Shippea Hill and Littleport (close to the Suffolk - Cambs border) I saw a large cat lying dead in the middle of the road. It was predominantly white but with either tabby or blue patches on its back and legs - difficult to see exactly because dark and driving with headlights.
I couldn't stop because of cars behind me - damned fen roads, there's nowhere to pull over. I would like to have stopped and at least moved this poor cat from the middle of the road and looked for a chip or collar. What unsettles me though is that less than a car's width from the cat was the shredded wreckage of a large cardboard box. Neither were there when I drove the opposite way at tea time. Unfortunately, the association between the cat and the box is not a pleasant one.
Play hard on the bridge, cat. I wish I could have given you some dignity.
