Lol, tiddles might be pre-empting little accidents in places other than litter trays, lol. One of my friends cats was called tiddles for that reason, lol. Another friend called hers Jemima piddle-cat!

My additional dilemma is that many names are a 'no no' because I teach...(say no more).  Well i like Tia but it means aunt in Spanish.
Lila means purple ( my little boy's favourite word).  Maybe Leila... but there is still a boys name.  I mean having two male and a female I should go for the female but I will judge by temperament not by gender.  what about Lonato or Luigi.  Tino or Tiberius or Tobias.  Actually going through a name book now.

I didn't laugh, I GUFFAWED!!!!   I was starting to have a different slant on my Bulgarian friend's choice of name for his daughter!!!

Yeah, as a collective noun, the 'Freds' is all I can think of so far. Our last three cats have been female so were simply known as 'the girls.' (original, huh?! :tired:) but this was more to do with the fact that we also had pet rabbits, known as 'the boys'. (RIP rabbitty-boys and  :censored: nasty fox)

Oh dear - I shall wipe the tears of laughter away and go to bed!

Night night!

How do you pronounce 'Malena?' Is it Mal -ee-nuh?

My daughter's friend is called Milena (Mill - en - uh) or Millie for short; I think it might be a Bulgarian name as her Dad, surprise surprise, is Bulgarian. She's a lovely kid with one brown eye and one blue eye!! Fascinating to look at!

Yeah, give us a picture so we can take a look!

We adopted our two today - already named Alfie and Wilf. There has been a debate as to whether we should change their names . . . . my family think Tugby and Bertram (old fave names from childhood books) but I'm not sure. After only being home for a couple of hours, they are already being referred to as 'The Freds' - (as in alFRED and wilFRED.) . . . . .

both mine came with acceptable names this time. But personally I prefer to meet the cat and spend at least 24 hours with it before deciding on a name. It has to be something you can stand at the back door and yell without feeling silly, and something that suits the animal's looks, personality and other characteristics. Claudius was named as he had a roman nose and was completely insane, as should be any self-respecting roman emperor. Pavarotti had the best set of lungs I have ever heard on a siamese, Bob was called dinar when he arrived but was such a feminine looking cat with such a squeaky voice i concluded he needed a Butch name to make people aware he was a boy ... Pre-naming without meeting is impossible for me.

No, sorry because It depends of who they have there that day.  i have my heart on a black and white female, which I saw this week end but as I want to wait till I have the school holidays she said that they can not (and I understand) reserve her for me.  She said by then she is either still there or they have a lot more.  So I am not sure what sort of cat ot will be neither the gender.

Firts time I went I kept the names they had already been given for three years and last time I did not like the name but was stuck when I had to give a new name for the chip.  Want to be prepared.

Cat Name- Help!
« Reply #1 on: March 18, 2008, 20:53:06 PM »
I am about to adopt a cat in less than 3 weeks now and have been pondering about names.  I would like to keep certain letters in my cat population so the cat will be either having an L, M or T as a starting letter.

Not sure about the gender yet so male and female names would be appreciated on the suggestions.

So far I have thought of:
Tia
Toto
Malena
Theresa
Lisbeth
....

and going away from those letters I thought of Pippa and Pia.

My current three are called Lennie, Martha and Theodore.

So what could the new name be?
