Post for urgent help:
Both my brother and his girlfriend have been taken into hospital leaving their 16 year old cat home alone, i have been feeding him but now its been 5 weeks and i've been told my brother will not be home for months and his girlfiend is not mentally capable of returning home, the cat has not been looked after over the years and is in quite poor condition,i have phoned the rspca 7 times asking for help, they told me to get a letter from my brother which i did, then they told me to ring a number they gave to arrange a pick up, it turned out to be a number for someone who rehomes rabbits!!
then they told me to arrange for the hospital to look after the cat as legally they have to, the hospital have said they can't do this, even after i have begged them for help. I tried to speak to someone at the rspca again last night, i explained that i myself am disabled and i wont be able to get to the cat every day from now on and i really need some help, i was told seeing as i had a key and had been left in charge if i didn't feed the cat i would be prosecuted. The cats protection league told me they have about a 6 month waiting list. I don't know what to do, the flat that the cats is living in is filthy, i keep asking for help and no one can do anything. I am in medway, kent. i thought the rspca would help but so far all they've done is accuse me of neglect (and ask for donations) when i'm the only person who seems to be bothered about the cat, i have phoned the nearest cats protection league centre but the waiting list is too long, it so unfair that the cat has been left home alone for 5 weeks.
Can anyone help?

:welcome: to Purrs Wiggins
The poor cat, that's no life for him :( I was going to say about the National Assistance act but seems it has already been mentioned. Mark, who posts on CC, volunteers for Canerbury CP so worth sending him a message to see if they may be able to help in any way.

It looks like this could be sorted now, will just wait for confirmation :)

absolutely mad , id phone the local paper about the rspca if thats the case...poor cat :'(

The rspca are a disgrace but this cat would have just been PTS by them so far better if it goes elsewhere.

Any news ? this is so sad :( :'(

I understand from CC and ALUK that a home has been offered for him and the owner is in e-mail contact with the adopter. Fingers crossed this will be confirmed as sorted soon.
