This old boy, later teens, urgently needs home. He was taken into my vet friend's practice in Mapperley, Nottingham, and the RSPCA are collecting him tomorrow (Monday 10th). Now, as he's older and possible hyperthyroid, his chances in an RSPCA shelter are slim, and we feel he'll be PTS...
This is what my vet friend said:
"Here I am again with an old stray: Lovely ancient little lad, bloods OK but likely hyperthyroid. Sweetest little thing, OK with other cats in the practice. Flead today. Can you put him on the stray page to see if anybody can give him a loving home?"
If anyone can help or offer him a foster home or loving forever home, please let me know. At a push, I can collect him to save PTS, but he'll need a foster/home as soon as possible...
Thanks in advance, Liz

I hope he can get into a proper rexcue or even get a home
-
Aww poor little chappie. I'm wondering whether he's wondered and belongs to someone? If I wasn't fostering atm I'd be tempted myself
-
RSPCA phoned the practice this morning and told them to PTS... I asked to vet to wait, but he desperately needs out tomorrow morning latest... :'(
-
Oh, poor little chap! I'm so sorry that I can't do anything to help :'(
-
To save this boy, I'm heading over to collect him at 6 tonight...
I have a sneaky idea, which involves me taking him into my favourite practice as a stray on Wednesday, as this will give him a further 7-days, and more time for me to try and find him a home...
The nurses there are fab, and will post his pic to try and find him a home... I'll also use some foundation funds to run a thyroid blood test (all other bloods came back fine), so we know exactly what's what with him for a new owner. We'll get him wormed (he's been flead), and I'll take him some food in, along with some Fortiflora, as he's a little loose on the old poop front...
So, he's safe in terms of not going to be PTS, but... he still needs a home!!
PLEASE let me know if anyone can help...
Thanks in advance,
Liz x

If I hadn't gone to get him, I wouldn't have slept tonight...
He's safe, but needs a home! A really sweet, loving boy.
I'll be taking him to have his thyroid bloods on Wednesday, so we know for sure if he's hyperthyroid. He has gained weight in a couple of days at the practice, but I am not kidding when I say he's like a skeleton... his spine and hips and ribs are so prominent...
He's had a full sachet of food (currently on Sensitivity), and when I sat on the floor with him, he clambered on my knee and began head bumping my hand for fusses, which when received, encourage a chorus of deep purrs.
He is a delight, and I am so glad that my heart ruled over my head yet again again and I drove over to save him...
He's even been rubbing and nudging the catnip sack he found :Luv2:
He has the wonkiest eyes and face, and in his day, he'll have been a strapping lad...
These old cats deserve nothing less than a warm, loving home to spent their last days...
Now I can sleep well knowing this boy will have the retirement he deserves...

My money is on Hyper T but had a diabetic who looked like that as well so a sugar curve would be good to run to - I currently have 2 Hyperthyroid and a diabetic so know what to look for
At least he is safe and if Gill takes him he will be spoiled rotten for the rest of his life as her current cats are she is a fab cat Mum ;D

I'm so glad that this little chap is safe! I'm really sorry that I can't take him. It is so tempting - but I would have to accept that my marriage would be over if I did...

Hee, hee... my other half had to accept that our relationship would be over if he said no!!!!! :naughty: Saying that, he's as much as a soft mug as me!!
I'll be taking him in today for his bloods, and there's an almost definite home offer for him, finger's crossed...

Lovely photo's, thanks for posting them :)
Mr S said 'no more cats' when we lost Punky at the end of 2011. Alfie moved in 10 months later and Cleo 9 months after that ...

Great pics and so pleased he is safe ;D ;D

His thyroid results were normal :wow: quite amazing as I thought he'd be positive!!
He is currently getting high calorie AD to assist weight gain. He is not complaining, and eats like a JCB!!
Possible home has been offered. I'll keep the post updated in case things don't work out and he still needs a home...
