Lump after booster vaccination

The Munchkin developed a lump once after his boosters. The vet took a biopsy just in case, but it was fine- just a reaction. It disappeared after a few weeks. Apparently, vaccine related sarcoma is extremely rare so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. The Munchkin has been vaccinated since with no ill effects.

Swampy had this in France and it was a big scare and he had to have the lump out in the end. I'd say do both of what you ask - go to your vet, who will most likely tell you to keep an eye on it. Often the aluminium adjuvant in those vaccines causes a lump which goes down in a matter of weeks. Occasionally it's a sarcoma but (I've been there, I thought the worst for 2 months) although it happens and you are right to be aware of it, it is still rare.
Sometimes it's in the middle like Swampy's. His lump went down a bit but didn't disappear so he had to have it out (benign). I do wish they'd use non adjuvanted vaccines but they are far more expensive I think to produce. One thing I was told by the specialist was that if your cat gets a lump from a vaccine once, it is likely to do so again, so only vaccinate (I'm talking about FelV and rabies vaccines) if the benefit outweighs the risks eg for an outdoor cat, you do have to do leukaemia, but not for an indoor.
I hope it's nothing and will go away in the next month or so xxx

I agree, it's probably just a reaction to the needle but I'd just give your vets a ring and see what they say

Speak to your vet first, some recommend a certain wait after to see if it goes down, some would prefer to see it straight away.

Hi, I've noticed one of my cats, Lucia, has developed a lump in the place she had her booster vaccination 9 days ago. Checking things out on the internet, I'm a bit freaked out it could be a sarcoma, especially as she had the Felv vaccination, as she's an outside cat. It's underneath the skin, seems quite firm and is about 1/2cm big. I've read it can be happen for cats to get lumps and it might be nothing to worry about, but it hasn't ever happened before, although she's only 3. I've read a lot of conflicting things about it and was just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience of this happening to their cat and wether I should take her to the vet or wait and see how it develops.
