I want to thank all who sent me personal messages after I lost Frodo. I have only just come back onto Purrs and am catching up on all mail. It was touching and thoughtful to send so many.
I am sorry I didn't get back sooner. I just wanted to creep away and hide. Many must know that feeling.
Julie.

I've said it before, but we're like Hotel California here - you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave....... ;) It's lovely to have you back. :)

I'm quite sure no one wants you to feel under pressure to respond to each and every one Julie but it's just so lovely to have you and Thierry back ;D
Love the Hotel California comment Sue :)

Thanks Rosella. I would love to respond to every message that was sent. But the ones about Frodo I haven't been able to read yet. Just too raw still. The cancer got in the way of my grief and I still need to come to terms with Frodo not being here. Six cats seemed a lot. Five cats just doesn't seem very many. I am forever thinking one is missing as there seems so few now. I can't even put out five dishes. It has to be six, or four. He was such a quiet cat. But has left such a loud silence in my heart.

I so understand where you are coming from Julie. When we went from 8 to 7 (our darling angel Millie RIP), the number of plates was a constant reminder like being emotionally stabbed each feeding time. Also 7 cats may well sound quite a few to most people but going from 8 to 7 actually felt like going from a full to an empty house :( When we lost our Fred to CRF, I was bereft but distracted myself by bringing his doppleganger Boris into the fold. Given your current circumstances, taking on the responsibility of caring for another life would not however be practical I know

Can't help cat window shopping though Rosella. I miss the colour badly as well. It just doesn't look right and I can't help but look for a black and white disabled moggy who would benefit from my small outdoor, yet safe cat proof space. I just feel desperate to nurture something. But I'll get over it.

These statements resonate so deeply with me too.  A cat leaves behind an absence unequal to its size.
-
Yes me too.
fter Napoleon went to the Bridge I did not intend getting another cat and especially not a 10 month kitten!
But then came Lupin :innocent:
Now I wish I had got another so he had someone to play with and he is over 5 years old now.

I know the feeling Julie

You have been missed Julie, I am glad that you feel able to come back to us now.I am sorry that there is nothing practical I can do to help

A way can always be found around practical stuff. It is the emotional stuff where true unconditional help is of most value.
