Myxi is abit rife this way but it goes in seasons and some years to see nothing and others you see literally every young or adult rabbit suffering from it.. I have never known a cat to catch a rabbit with myxi the seem to know.. i dont think it can be passed on as its species specific...
I wouldnt put a fox off catching a rabbit or picking a rabbit up that had died from this disease but i havent seen it happen..

My cats totally ignore them...

I have to say the 2 brothers of Kirstys two lovely cats. Memphis and Apollo probably had 12 rabbits between them last week... Not a pretty sight as they usually do kill and eat them..

I came home last week to see my Leo eating 2 fluffy bunny back ends on the sofa in the living room. Now i dont know about you but Leo is white (well cream) and around 13yrs old, so all i cam imagine the rabbiit, taht was not a very clever rabbit.

One of the other cats Thomas a blk LH puss cat belonging to another relative on the site had a squirrel last week as well..

I think we just have to put up with it eventually not much to be done but save what we can..but rabbits usually die of shock more then anything

Well done Jerry, most are happy to catch a mousie or birdie but clearly he has bigger prey in mind.

Luckily mine are indoor so the only presents I get are fabric mice, I'd probably pass out if I got a living present.

We are used to it , Beavis and Oscar used to catch them and Fred-cat still does. Sadly Fred-cat prefers to kill his.

You have to be very careful when catching them not to get any of your scent on them as they may be refused back by their bunny family. -not easy and the little blighters can't half run and of course they don't understand we are trying to save them! :tired:

oh! Good hunting skills but I have no idea what I would do if one of mine brought a bunny home as prey. Luckily mine are used to them as friends

And ,as we thought Jerry wasted no time in showing off his hunting skills!!

Bunny was rescued and returned to the field after dark when the ginger terrors were shut in for the night!
