Message just received from Cats Protection HQ:-
I am absolutely delighted to be able to tell you that a new EU law has been approved today banning the production, marketing, import and export of cat and dog fur.
-
Better late than never ;D
Next they need to stop Germany, Switzerland & Austria to Stop exporting live dogs to the far east.
-
I didnt even know it was allowed
Bl00dy good job I say
-
Thats great Ela, thanks for telling us.
At last they have listened.
-
Cool ;D They need to address the mislabeling too or they will just import it as "rabbit fur"
-

You are right but the encouraging thing is that retail buyers work so far in advance that this will start working straight away.

That's great news :) About time, too!
-
Fantastic news. Be interesting, and totally disturbing, to see what disappears in shops in 2009. Mind you I'm allergic to shopping so I'll never know, but you get my drift.
Good point Millys Mum.

Brilliant news, at last this evil trade is being outlawed.
Cheers

great step in the right direction... lets just hope its not then forgotten about and is followed through with further action to stop the mislabeling, export of animals and far east countries in their slaughter of cats and dogs!!!!!
Last BBC update on the Ban was in June.... which is readable on the BBC website... but be warned that there are disturbing images on the news story. just search for 'cat fur'
