Unfortunately I won't be able to help out as much this year as I did last year, as I will be working more hours (although it does mean I will be able to bid on more things! :evillaugh: )
I will be available on Saturday and Sunday evenings and am waiting for a rota for the rest of the week and will let you all know when I can help out :)
I have training Thursday and Friday so hopefully I will get a schedule then.

As I like to try and keep on top of things so I know where I am, and I dont have to trawl through everything. :birth 2: have to use this little fella I just love his little trumpy feet :Luv:

Think you have to go into your profile and check for emails replying to your posts or somethig :shify:

I just open the thread then click on the "started by" and this sorts the items by the name of the person who listed it ... this is an easy way to check on items you have listed. ;)

I've become quite proficient over the years at keeping tabs on my listed items lol mind you this year I seem to have taken over the board :-:
You can also do the same by clicking on the "subject" ... this is good to see the items listed alphabetically .. useful where there are several lots of the same items!

Ahhhh now I see your two yellow paw prints and you need to go way above that and the clock is under your name at top..............if you cant go any higher then there is a + or - sign on right of surporting Cat rescue. Click that and it will change the top.
Hope that solves this.

The only 'clock' is my login time ! No sign of a clock. (just checked on another browser and it is the same!). Tempus fugit ;D

that time changes as you move around the threads so that is the clock that the auction runs by, hope that helps!

I find the easiest way is to synchronise your computer clock with the purrs clock by watching both and when the clock on your computer moves on a minute refresh the page and see if the Purrs clock has done the same and the seconds seem about right. Not split second accuracy but pretty good.

Yes it does! However, is this relevant before 1 December? (Do we have a time for 'close'? - sorry I have just seen on another thread it is 2000 .. hope Corrie is not rescheduled for the same time!).

so if you're bidding on things you really want, best to open multiple tabs and then just concentrate on the couple that mean most to you. :naughty:
At the stroke of 8pm no more bids will count, although your late bid will show on the thread, if the posting time was after 2000 it won't count. :(
Make sure you look in again on the listings later today and through the week as there's more itesm being added daily - I've got another load to go on tonight when I've finished my chores, so do keep an eye on the thread, not just your bidding items. ;D

If there is an item I want and bid on it, somebody is almost certainly going to outbid me. Would it not be easier to wait until near the closing time and put a bid in then? (Trouble is now I have said it, everybody will do it!).

That's the chance you take, the Purrs auction is unique in that it's all about the charity, so whomever wins or loses the item, the charity always wins. ;D
If you can be there at8pm next Sunday, you have a very good chance of winning your top item. But be prepared for some stiff competition, from here on in, the gloves are most definitely off :naughty:

The chances of you winning more than one item, and if its popular, unless you put a huge amount on it, are almost nill unless you can hit 2000hrs on the nail and 1 sec over and you have had it.
As I have said before this auction is about having fun raising money for the rescue and the fun is trying to sneakily out manouvring your rivals.

Lol yeah :D purrs auction is different to eBay where here once a year we deliberately want to keep bidding to increase money raised for the rescue which is the whole reason for our annual auction. :D more we can raise the more we can help the stray cats :) xxx

That's the fun of it. Last minute decisions - do you go in a few mins before 8pm and keep everything crossed or do you wait until the closing seconds and hope you get in on time, your computer doesn't have problems connecting to the server due to all the activity and your clock isn't much out with the Purrs clock! Also bear in mind that your main competitor(s) for an item may also have their eye on other items and it's hard to put in last minute bids on multiple items. It all gets very frantic towards the end and there are always bids that are just seconds too late. But as Gill says - it's the rescue that is the ultimate winner.
The bidding up til then is for fun, to have a bit of banter with other bidders, to get the price up and now that there are lots of threads some items do have a winning bid that wasn't even placed on the last day, let alone in the closing minutes.

Spread the word on the Auction to ya friends etc anyone can join up to Purrs free and bid :) Tweet about it, facebook about it but ya aint got long as it finishes on Sunday 1st Dec.
The more bids we have the more we raise for the needy stray cats that aint as lucky as our own. Just £5 more raise can help one more poor babe out there !!!!
The feral & Stay foundation really can help cat rescues by reducing the number of stray cats getting pregnant which out soooo much pressure on the cat rescues! The more we can raise for them the more we can help stray cats and cat rescue!! ;D ;D

no they don't have to be new as long as they are in good condition and you make it clear they are not new items. anything goes! doesn't even have to be cat related although it helps if you can find some cat connecton ;D

Well done Sam and all the people involved in making this auction happen. I'm having great fun in the auction, and so is Lucky. These auctions are always for such good causes. Lucky feels sorry for all the poor puds who are strays and who haven't got a nice warm home and loving Meowmy to care for them. She also thinks that it's sad that those poor ferals have never known loving hooman contact. Well done everyone involved in these causes.

I agree that Sam has done fantastically well to get so much wonderful stuff from sponsors. And I want to remind bidders not to ignore the bottom threads. There are a lot of items but dont' let yourself get distracted by the stuff at the top. There are some amazing bargains to be had if you go down to the bottom of the board and view those items that a lot are missing. Some great stuff very generously donated.

I know Big Cat Lover kept bidding on a few things I was after and I missed out on a few things I intended as Christmas presents, but I did manage to come away with several toys for the cats (spoiled kitties) and the chip scanner I was after. :-D

They're normally pretty instant nowadays with faster payments but the Purrs account is Natwest (who had problems a few days ago) so I'll ask Tan to double check ;D
