I'm hoping he has found his way home. There is a row of houses facing a golf course and their back gardens face onto other back gardens. At one end of the terrace is a little road then the beach - as he isn't very agile, I'm hoping either he found his way home or someone else has sorted him out.

Aw, Mark that doesn't sound good but might the cat have gone home (if it has a home)?

Still no call - I spoke to her friend who said that she has been putting out food but it isn't being eaten  :(

I went over there yesterday and today but no luck   :(

Very best of luck Mark, I was lucky trapping a couple of ferals for the first time just before Christmas in my own garden but I can imagine how difficult it must be in another area etc x
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

No call today  :(

Hope this cat is OK. There is a Alley at the back of the gardens (really common in Whitstable - I think they are called 6 foot ways) - I will take a look tomorrow from the back and see if I can find him. Pointless trying in the dark. I just hope he went back for food. One of the problems with a trap is the lady has several cats of her own.

I haven't heard anything yet. The lady whose garden puss appears in has promised to call us if there's a sighting.

But I am ready with my trap if Mark calls...  :)

Thanks Julie

I made it clear to her to call me any time - I think she thinks she is being a nuisance but I told her it really isn't a problem and the important thing is to get him to a vet regardless. The shame is, I think I could have done it without the audience  :tired:

Mark

If you get no joy with the other traps, call me and I'll arrange with you to meet and you can have the one I've got. I won't be using it for a few days anyway I would think. But it's the heavy metal one so perhaps Gillian's is a wire one?

If you are near this lady, and she's around most of the time, I'd set the trap and ask her to monitor from a distance and call you with news - so long as you don't mind her perhaps calling late at night? This is exactly what I did when we got Luna and we caught her within a few hours.  :sneaky:

I'm not working again until Saturday so if you need any help, give me a shout.  ;)

The lady seemed to think he won't be back for a week  :( - I told her to call me at any time and I can be there in 3 minutes as she is only round the corner opposite the golf course - the old lady was so nice and tried to pay me for "wasting my time"  - I told her it wasn't time wasting and I don't mind going round ten times if we can get him in the end. There were just too many people around - I'm sure I would have had a better chance doing it by myself.

I have been trying to trace a trap and think that Gillian may have one...

If she does ring then let me know...

Was really hoping to get this one in before tonight...

Not sure what else we can do... Other then a stake out..

Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....

Nice try Mark, sounds like there was nothing else you could do.  Hopefully it'll find a quiet spot away from fireworks.

Fingers crossed for a happy ending to 2007.

« Reply #1 on: December 31, 2007, 18:44:42 PM »
We tried in vain to rescue a poor injured cat this afternoon but without luck  :(

An old lady called Sharon and said a stray had been in her garden a while but now had an injured paw and a bad eye (maybe missing eye  :( )

As she was near me, her friend arranged to meet me on the corner and take me to the ladies house. Her husband arrived with her so there were 4 of us in the garden. It was a huge garden and we went to the back where there was an old piece of fence leaning against her fence and we could see the cat's tail sticking out. I whispered to the husband to block one end and I was at the other with a towel to catch the cat. The husband stupidly thought it was a good idea to lift the wood up - and puss flew off on 3 legs  >:( - we searched for ages but had to give up  :( - The old lady is under instruction to phone me if there is any sighting. I'm just thinking about this poor sick cat out on New Years night with fireworks going off etc  :'(
