Oh no that is so heartbreaking - poor baby  :( i've been admiring her for a few weeks now and hoping for the best for her - I think you can definitely get a soft spot for kitties without actually meeting them!

RIP Cleo, have fun at the bridge xxx

Hello all
I was trying to change the name of this thread but dont seem to be able to do it...

Anyhows, i have just heard that Cleo was PTS this afternoon, the vet who we use alot thought we were at point of no return and she never stablised enough to even have a glimmer of hope...

Terribly devasting and i for one even though i never met her had a real soft spot for Cleo, we tried out best... but it just wasnt to be...

With Cleo we took in two other elderly cats, both founds homes. We realised it wasnt going to be easy and Paula was fab with her but perhaps the stress of this all just proved to be to much.

RIP Cleo, you really were a lovely lady...

Hello all
I heard from Paula today that Cleo is little better and dosnt seem to be able to hold her own...This is bad news...and the vets are not be able to say if she was able to pull through...Even with insulin she dosnt seem to be able to respond.

Really don't encourage me...we already have four here and Old Mog and my partner would NOT be happy with a newcomer.(He already renaged on the "no more rodents" rule when I took on the gerbil!)  But she looks such a nice old girl it's hard not to consider it. :shy:

Hi all
Cleo came back to us on Monday, a few issues really, not really to do with the new people or Cleo just circumstances.

Anyhows she went back to our foster carerer but then took a turn for the worse, no doubt the stress involved in all the moving and has been at the vets for the last two days.

Positiive vibes for Cleo, but it makes it very difficult as sometimes we are forced to move cats around due to hols, etc and if Cleo is in our care for a long time then this is bound to happen again...

But at the moment i suppose she is in the best place to sort her out.

There is a rumour flying around in emails that Cleo was spotted today in a newpaper appeal by a potential new owner and enquiries have been made. Sharon will no doubt fill us all in if this develops.  :wish:

Can you offer Gorgeous Cleo a Retirement home? RIP Cleo

CAN YOU OFFER LOVELY CLEO A LOVELY NEW YEAR RETIREMENT HOME?
Cleo came into our care after her loving owner recently died and there was no one around who could take care of her. She was very much loved and meant a great deal to her previous owner, as she has been given loads of fuss and always the best veterinary care when she needed it.

Cleo is a tortie coloured puss and as you can see is a bit nosey, always trying to see what is going on. What makes Cleo a little bit different from other cats that we generally have in our care is that Cleo is diabetic and sometime in the past she lost her tail, but none of that bothers her too much.  Cleo diabetes is something you see in older cats but it can be easily controlled with proper veterinary care. Her condition is being successfully controlled via a special diet and so far she seems to be fine with that. She has to go back to the vets every now again to check her blood sugar levels, but so far all is well.

Cleo is a friendly, gentle, laid back lady who enjoys company and being stroked and brushed. She is playful, talkative and responds when her name is called. She welcomes people when they come to the door and greets them with a big purr!

The sad fact is that if we had not taken Cleo in, she may have ended up being put to sleep. We cannot say for certain that Cleo’s diabetes will always be controlled by a special diet, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will. Cats’ Protection is willing to assist with Cleo’s veterinary/dietary costs, especially if she needs insulin treatment in the future.

Cleo would suit an older family home or indeed a retired person. Cleo is used to having a stroll in the garden, but I bet given the chance she would just sit on the windowsill and watch the world go by from her perch. She is a real trooper of a puss who takes everything in her stride (or paws!). Cleo is obviously a senior lady who deserves a nice cushion and a big cat basket to call her own. So if that  special person sounds like you and you want to give a cat a happy retirement then please get in touch.

Cleo has been spayed, is fully up to date with her vaccinations and is chipped. So Cleo wishes you furry head butts and paws to you and just hopes that her new family come forward very soon.
Cleo is in the care of Canterbury CP  (East Kent area) and although we would love to rehome locally if a fab home came up with would be willing to rehome outside our area.  Homecheck would still need to be done but hopefully we can arrange that via another local rescue organisation.

For information on Cleo please tel or email me on 01227 360432 or email canterburycpl@btopenworld.com
