Title: Xanthe - nerves of steel
Post by: lucy on October 06, 2007, 23:35:33 PM
Just had daughter's 10th birthday party - 8 girls & 2 boys, disco, games & tea. Fully expected Xanthe to leg it upstairs but she stayed around the kids the whole time! How brave is that?

She deserves a medal for courage beyond the call of duty.

so did the two boys!!! Glad they did not traumatise Xanthe - they surprise you sometimes. Mine have always loved a party, but I have yet to estabish how this generation will cope.

OMG, how incredible!! :wow:they do deserve huge medals!!  Our gang needs a lesson or two from them... Oliver maintains an absolute zero tolerance stance against kids, and Cri's son (8 ) and daughter (11) hasn't even managed a decent look at him during their 2 visits. (Only chance they got was, the moment they arrived on their first visit, just when he was taking a dump in the cat litter... I was so afraid he would jump out and ran with the thing still hanging out, but amazingly he managed to finish his business...)
The kids, despite my reasoning, keep their vigil in front of his hideout and persist "kittyyyyy, kittyyyyyyy, kittyyyyyy!!", well, unless they learn better I know they will never get to see him this way.
The things were made worse when a friend of ours came to visit with his 6 year old terror, she really reminds me of that little awful girl from "Finding Nemo", so you can get a good picture... Oliver even hissed at her at one point!!
I can only hope his relationship at least my partners' kids will improve in time, but it is surely going to be a challenge!!

Huge compliments to Xanthe and the kids!!

I am sure it will - 2 visits are nothing for children / cats to get used to each other.
