Foxes don't normally attack cats however foxes are very territorial and also very protective of their babies ...  I'm sure Ben was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time and just happend to annoy the fox.

I would try and keep your boys in at night if you have foxes in the area particularly at this time of year.  It is generally a good idea to keep cats in at night anyway as nighttime is the time when they are most likely to come to harm.

I'm sure Ben will learn to give Foxy a wide berth from now on  ;)

The fox must be pretty desperate to take on a tom, are you sure its the same one the lady feeds?
Im glad to see you got your boy back and are now snipped chipped and out in force  :Luv2:

Hi Folks just thought Id pop by and let you all know about my drama last night:( Ben was nearly savaged by a bloody fox! thank god I rushed out the back garden after hearng what I thought was a dog snarling and fighting outside, I looked out my livingroom window to see Ben on my fence, I rushed down in the nick of time to see a fox jumping up at him snarling and trying to eat him!!, I shouted really loudly and it scarpered but it must have grabbed him previous to me running out as his fur was all saliva:(( he was in complete shock poor wee soul, eventually coaxed him in and cuddled him for a few hours, IK know why this princess of a bloody fox wants to eat white cats though, its because my Jerry ate its food and the fox saw him do it, the fox has obv mistaken poor Ben for Jerry and attacked :(( this is all I need....then this morning I asked hubby to go out and get Jerry in (for some reason he sits whinging on the fence to be picked up and brought in even though he is more than capable of jumping down from it!) he must have lifted Jerry the wrong way Jerry flipped his lid, sunk his teeth into hubbies hand a bad one and ran off! its been eventful thats for sure!!! lol I wonder what this evening will bring hopefully no more foxes going near my cats! I was flabbergasted thats the first time in my life that I have ever seen a fox so vicious! its was horrendous like summit out a horror movie! and I wouldnt like to see it again I used to like the look of foxes before I witnessed that last night! and it was really scruffy, the lady that helped me catch Jerry has been feeding that fox for years its not hand tame but it knows she is harmless to the point it turned up at her door with four cubs! it goes the same time every single night and she actually buys it fox food!!! Jerry has clearly pissed the fox off mega big stylee and she is now seeking ultimate revenge on any poor white cat that comes her way!
