What a fabulous dog! Is he a newfie?

Yes it is a gorgeous brown one. We used to have a Landseer - black and white. :) Now at the bridge. :(

:Luv2: He is hard work but worth it. I wish you could see him with the cats you would laugh, Scooby head buts him for attention and they play < who can stay hanging on to Zack's tail the longest.> This is Zack and his buddy Casper.

 gorgeous doggie :Luv2:
-
Awwww, I adore dogs, the bigger the better! Unfortunately, our lifestyle precludes it :(
-
Gorgeous pics :Luv:
Whenever I see big dogs like that though my thoughts always turn to 'imagine how much they must cost to feed!'
OH's parents lived in a static caravan for a bit, they had the door open one summers day and turned around to find a St Bernard had wandered in :evillaugh: they didn't half have a job getting him out, cos he could barely turn around in such a small space

:Luv2: No Emmmy lou, he only eats Two meals a day about as much as you would give a German shepherd.

I have an on-line friend who has always had newfies, his latest is big, even for the breed! It is a pity that they live at the other end of that Britain, so I don't get to meet them :(
Went to a charity dog show yesterday and got the chance to meet lots of lovely dawgies. 'Best in show' was a gawjus Ridgeback princess, a big dog with a very gentle nature.

:thanks: for the lovely comments.

Hi Slugsta, I have been told Newfies have a short life-span could you ask your friend if that's true and how old his are. Thanks.
-
I believe that the average lifespan is 8 - 10 years, I think 'the bear' was that sort of age when he went to Rainbow Bridge.
-
I think it is older than that, but you are right, usually giant breeds (especially Great Danes) liver shorter lives. Although, my sister and her husband have a Dane and I think she is 9 now. :)
Sadly our Landseer had aplastic anaemia or myeloid leukemia - only one way to check for this, and it it by taking a sample from the hip. A painful procedure which will cause discomfort for a couple of weeks afterwards. So I asked the vet what he would do if it was his dog, and he said nothing. So we decided to let her enjoy the rest of her life without meddling with her, as she was pain free at that point. So she was nine years of age, and I did feel cheated, as I hoped she would be with us for longer. :(
