Sylvie my 9 year old silver tabby went to vet just over a week ago as she kept grinding her teeth and making gulping noises. Vet checked her teeth said they all looked fine and gave her antibiotic jab, said if not better in a week to go back for dental xrays. she thought it may be pharyngitis. Sylvie is eating well but still grinding her teeth on and off and now when she is asleep is snoring. loudly. Back to the vet we go on Saturday. Only problem is teeth not covered by insurance :( I hope its nothing too serious and maybe a tooth root infection or something like that :(

I read somewhere that teeth grinding can be a symptom of excess stomach acid - although there would probably be other symptoms if that were the cause.
I think that insurance policies cover dental treatment if it's to treat a problem affecting the cat's health, rather than preventative (descaling, for example).
