This my permanent resident Archie (Tabby) giving my semi-feral foster Poppy a wash - how scary is she!!!!!!
Anyone looking for a gorgeous kitty consider this little love - with time and trust she is soooo loving - she's been here 4 weeks now and look at her already!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Really hope she finds a home soon, she looks like she is enjoying her pamper session!
-
Kelly, she is a gorgeous furbabe :Luv: :Luv:. Hope she gets the forever home she deserves soon (and is pampered to the same standard )
-
Aww, I am so pleased she is doing well, and has made a friend.
-
What a sweetheart! looks like Archie approves too :Luv: Hope she finds a new home soon.
-
She is beautiful, how come she is getting on with you other cat's so well, so soon?
-
I have no idea! she's really skittish but at the rescue was being a little intimidated by other cats.Archie does play fight with her but I think she's learnt to tell him off - i can only think its mutual respect!
-
Crikey that is amazing that she trusts him and is doing so well i love her markings really different sure she will find an amaxing home soon enough but for now looks like she is having a good enough time with Archie lol

As someone who has lived with three feral-type cats, I can thoroughly recommend them.
The first was a feral kitten rescued from hospital grounds by my mum (a nurse) during a cull. I was nine at the time, and she grew into a handsome tortie and white.
The second was a semi-feral six month old who hid behind the furniture for the first few weeks till the affection of my other cat, Minnie, and curiosity drove her out. She grew into a proud huntress.
Now I have an ex-feral, Polly, who twists me round her paw. She has learnt the skills of a domestic cat (the pathetic looks to get her way) just as her previous hunting, scavenging and fear helped her survive as a feral. It took six months of gentleness and play before she finally sat on my lap and purred. She's now 20, and a sedate but playful old duchess.
I would recommend feral cats to anyone who has the patience to give them time to trust. Once they come round, they love with a vengeance.
Hurray for ferals! :fish:

So true and well said. Poppy has my OH and Archie wrapped round her paws - so much so that OH wants to adopt her rather than the kitten, Dave that is currently in our rescue that I had said from the day I took him in that I was going to adopt him. I know Dave will be rehomed much easier than Poppy and Poppy is already here but my heart is set on the gorgeous little boy tabby! Its a dilemma we're having to decide on at the moment - there's not room for both as I foster and don't want to stop doing that, and Poppy is settled, but Dave is :Luv:
What do we do?!
-
I would keep Poppy, Archie seems to love her and vice versa. He might prefer the chilled out cat rather than a kitten. And anyway you cant split them, they are in love. :Luv: Your choice. :)
-
They both beautiful, they look like a right Posh n Becks.
-
Wow, she is gorgeous Kelly ;D I love her half tabby half ginger head, she has really lovely unusual markings, dont envy you making a choice between her and Dave :shify: , but im sure you'll make the best decision for all concerned
-
:Luv: She is a beauty!
-
Just a thought, Kelly: could you be falling for the 'cute kitten' syndrome? You realise yourself that Dave will be easily rehomed, but Poppy may have a harder time of it.
I would love to foster sometime, but couldn't bear parting with the fosters; you must become so attached to them.
I'm sure that whatever choice you make will be the right one.

Well Dave has been rehomed - it was hard to tell Maureen to let him go but its done now. Poppy is still here - we're giving her a few months to find a new home and if she's still here then we'll adopt her - that way we're both kind of happy! I realised I could rehome a kitten any time so thats why I let Dave go.

A tough decision. Poppy looks beautiful.....
All our family cats were ferals - we ended up with three in the house and a semi-feral family of Tom, Mother and their grown up kitten, Ginge all living in our boiler room, they were excellent cats.
Mother cat was always a shredder though - could never touch her!
