Just been to Asda and got myself some of these chocolate bars  ;D  I bought one of each pack.  I was tempted to buy more but told myself that 16 choccie bars was quite enough for someone trying to eat less chocolate!  8 bars for £1 is a real bargain though.

I thought they had all agreed to stop it quite a few years ago as parents get so much grief from kids at the checkout. I know our Morrisons in Herne Bay has wine & flowers at the checkout (never the cheap stuff!)

lol @ finding chocolate/money (neither happens very much here either!!)

Mark - all supermarkets seem to have the odd 1 or 2 tills with choc on, ASDA has them on alot of their tills - the end bit where the two meet, if that makes sense.

I keep stumbling on the "seasonal" aisle of Tesco by mistake and  :drool; ing, but I'm still on the Bloomin diet. I want chocolate for easter as a reward though! Lindt chocolate.. mmmmmmm!

yum yum yum ... not only cheap chocolate but surprise chocolate ... finding chocolate you've forgotten about is almost as good as finging paper money in a pocket you'd forgotten about!!  Unfortunately neither event happens very often in this house  :(

No thanks - the Tunnocks chocolat caramel did it for me - I used to have them in the 70's and still love them. Anyway, chocolate and red wine don't mix  :P ;D

This is not a good thread for me to be reading!  I've had no chocolate for 3 days but now have cravings!  And there's a 24 hour Asda just a few minutes drive away...

I used to like thorntons diabetic chocolate.  Not diabetic, mind  Have you looked at low carb websites, Gill?  When low carb was all the craze you could get low carb chocolate everywhere which was pretty much the same as diabetic chocolate - various sweeteners used.  There are probably still places you can buy it online.  Although I don't think there's any getting around the fact that chocolate isn't exactly healthy, diabetic or not!

Never really have cake and I dont drink at all, use splenda in place of sugar in drinks, cereal and cooking.................not that I do much cooking LOL.

My rreal weakness is chocolate and red coke but am now drinking Zero, cant work out the difference from diet cos the ingredients look the same but seems different. problem is that all diet drinks are toooooooooo sweet, and they make me thirsty. Drinking a lot of cocoa at moment cos drinking choco has sugar in but can use splenda.

Gill how are you with cake? My mum used to make a kind of sponge cake for my dad. it was the only cake he could it. It didn't have any special icings or anything but the recipe was so light that it was "his" cake. He loved it with some coffee or just on its own.  It used to give him that hit when he needed it and left him satisfied for ages (I mean weeks on end).

He used to use Hermesetas sweetners in his coffee. He still does I believe, but he's an alcoholic too so he has not helped his sugar intake at all!!!  GRRR.

Mark, go have a kit kat  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

I think you are right, and its also very confusing cos on that site it talks about Fructose being used and being bad for diabetics. I have had this conversation with someone today cos they told me about a sweetner called Agave Nectar which is a fructose from a plant. According to the label its OK for diabetics cos its got a low GI but according to the label its high in sugar.

I did a lot of research and have read that low GI diets are the thing for diabetics but when you look at the index it contradicts much of what the doctors tell you is best to eat.............................I give up quite frankly, except I dont use sugar any more and try to keep my much loved things to minimum. Also dont have sugar soft drinks anymore.

But I am totally confused by the GI versus the stuff the doctors tell you cos in the next breath they say low GI is best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually was thinking of emailing UK diabetics abnd asking them tonight, cos the dar nectare is scrummy and would allow me to have other things that I used to have brown sugar with, like porrage cos oats are good for us apparently.

Its controversial:

Here is an Against view (which kinda makes sense) http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/diabetic-chocolate-CHCODIABETIC/

And here is a Pro view by Cadburys (of course) http://www.ejackson.co.uk/special.asp

so I guess its how much you want to have choco and how much you want to spend. There is also a link here for a company but they don't seem to have opened up shop again, but worth keeping an eye out in case they do and their prices are reasonable.

Green and blacks.........I think its them are American and before Christmas Tesco, just one small branch was selling for first time bags of coconut in choco and it was great but now cant get it again. It was very expensive but tasted like real thing. Cadburys also do small bars but it is disgusting, so bad i chucked it.

Most companies do a diabetic range, M&Ms etc and in States there is a website that sell all of it at normal prices but they will not ship out of States and you cant buy it here.  :'( :'( :'(
