The only way I would persue this is, if I spoke to the lady herself and took it from there.  The email certainly does sound iffy and although it could be genuine, I'm not convinced but I can guarantee no one will get a cat off me unless they are 100% above board.  I'm going to do what Mark has suggested and see what crawls out from under the woodwork  :evillaugh:

Its a scam, they will ask for your bank details to send a money transfer. There have been alot of these aimed at people who are selling their horse.

I couldn't just ignore it as if they are scammers, they are probably contacting other rescues etc and if there is any chance they are looking for free "baiters" or other dodgy doings, other cats could be in danger. I would imagine this is one the RSPCA should investigate. If they are genuine animal lovers, they will understand. Hard for you to do as I know you are up to your neck at the moment.  Might be an idea to string them along and see what happens. Isn't it unusual for people to ask for a random cat?

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, the beginning is like the scam ones that come from abroad.
Please spay your cat

Although I don'  think for one minute the mail is genuine. I would  advice him to ask his girlfriend to contact me direct so we can discuss what she really wants.

I would have to look into it properly first and make sure his partner is happy about having another cat   And where they live is about an hour from where I am.......I would have thought there would be plenty of cats within the area he is, unless other rescues are not prepared to look into it further  :shify:

Had this email earlier, not sure how to go about it but might try and investigate further  :shify:

"i myself is a animal lover & so is my patner, at the moment am not in the
UK. i was wondering if it is possible if you could deliver a cat to my
patners place in xxxxxxxxxx. i am willing to pay any costs for that to
happen. shes a huge cat lover, she has had cats before, her last pet cat had
passed away of old age about a year ago & she hasnt still got over it, so i
was hoping to make change. i hope you can grant my wish.  thanks"
