There are cats in Center parks in France too, but  nobody knows if they have been mistreated or not.
I am still waiting for more answer !

First is its very important to find out how it is with the Center Parcs cats in the UK.
Are there cats?
If the answer is yes, is Center Parcs the owner or are they left behind?
Are they feed-ed or not?
What are they doing when there are to many cats?
Maybe they have the perfect cat friendly solution so i can tell Center Parcs Holland that other Parcs don't kill the cats.

I know it's not a definitive answer but I've been to a few of the center parcs, the most recent being Elveden about 2 years ago - I didn't see a single cat when I was there.  Lets hope that there aren't any there and that this dreadful situation in the Netherlands can be sorted out.

His name is Maico (means very naughty) and he is about 20 weeks old, he is the youngest of my six cats.

Yes, we need all the facts.
In dutch we say: de eerste klap is een daalder waard, means something like, the first hit has to be sharp, you don't get a second chance.

Love your cat Anne he is very handsome, what is his name?  ;D

WE have some french speakers on hear and a new member who lives in France, if you pm me Annn I will give you their names and you could ask one of them if she would put a message on the frnch forum for you.

I think we need to know exactly all the facts about this before making any public statements. Mark is right that we must be sure across all the european Center Parcs or whether is is just in the Dutch ones.

The fact is that they are killing the cats and won't talk about a solution but to get things changed we need a lot of information and proof.

So first: is it only a dutch problem or have we to change all Center Parcs in Europe?
It is very important to know, do we have to accuse whole Center Parcs or not.

If i am sure about it i will let you know.

If you contact Center Parcs UK, please be very carefull with what you are telling them.
To get things changed in Holland we need more information.
If Center Parcs Holland hears from what is going on, the will lock the door complete and it might not be possible anymore to save some of the cats!
Th file is not yet complete.

We are having the same problem here with the olympic site. A cat charity, Celia Hammond Trust is trying to save the feral cats on the olympic buling site but they have been banned from the site, even though it won't cost the Olympic people anything. It is so cruel and heartless. I'm sure a lot of families that stay in centreparcs would be horrified if they knew. I wonder if there are any Centerparc forums? - We have to be very careful regardinf accusations as these big companies can afford to shut people up in court  >:(

On the picture my youngest.
When he was 3 weeks old, he was brought (with his 4 brothers) to the local shelter.
They said we have already to much little ones so the want to kill the babies. (no, not even wait 14 days!)
The were lucky and brought to a private shelter.
But this is normal in Dutch shelter who becomes money from the local authorities!

Hi Yvonne,

I wish i could say no, i don't have evidence but the answer i have to give is yes :(
There are people working at Center Parcs who told me and they are trying to save some cats!
Last week they did save the little one i told before.

They catch the cats and put them in so called deadcages.
There they have to wait for the vet.
He brings them to the shelter were the are put to sleep.
The shelter gets money from the local authorities for 14 days housing the cats but there is much doubt (no proof) if the shelter really wait 14 days then the know that this are nobody cats. (none owner)
So there are no cost for Center Parcs en the get relieved of the cats.
But i asked if i can have the family of 6 cats and they said no, and of course it wont have any cost for Center Parcs.
So they don't want to save the cats.

We are trying to find out much as possible and then we inform the Dutch media, there are people on a dutch cat forum who are helping me.
I will also ask information on a German cat forum, too bad i don't speak any french so i can't ask the french people.

Good evening Anne,

Do you actually have any evidence that Center Parcs are killing the cats?  If so, how are they doing it?  Has there been any coverage about this in any of the Dutch media?

Please keep us posted.

The organisation is a foundation who helps dogs and cats who can not be placed anywhere else.
Older and sick animals and animals with wild behaviour, i mean cats who have been living in the woods.
Also cats with FIV-FeLV.
The animals don't live there in cages but in a room or outside with many space.
Somebody who works there is trying to save some cats from Center Parcs.
Last week they saved a little one!

;D gill i was just going to say the same thing - i think you cross posted and then i had a lady to look at me cats .

Centreparcs would hate bad publicity so its as well to get a national or international charity behind you. look at IFAW at http://www.ifaw.org/ifaw/general/default.aspx

or http://www.wspa-international.org/

for example

Anne I saw you use CP for Centre Parcs but in the UK, CP means Cat Protection which is one of the biggest rescues in the country, so ummmm could you either write name in full or use say Cen P cos it would be terrible if someone came in and saw the pictures and thought our CP was killing cats  ;D

Sorry to be a nuisance but very important to us in the UK  ;D

Sorry, sorry, i didn't know!

Hi Anne and  :welcome: to Purrs

Those cats are adorable - could they not just go "missing"

When I was at Center Parcs I did not see any cats - plenty of squirrels and ducks.  I would be very surprised if Center Parcs in the UK were associated at all with killing cats but I would be interested to know.

Holiday parc kill cats
« Reply #1 on: October 01, 2007, 15:01:22 PM »
Dear, dear catlovers,

My name is Anne and i am living in the Netherlands.

In Holland we have a big problem.
This problem may also exist in the UK.
I want to try to change things en i have to found out of this only is a dutch problem or also in the Uk, Belgium, Germany and France.
What is going on:
You all know what Center Parcs is.
A Holiday center!
A so called State Of Happiness!
In this “State of Happiness lives many cats.
Many years ago Center Parcs needed the cats to catch mice and other “bad” animals.
So the toke some cats and let them walk through the holiday centers.
The were feed-ed and also castrate/sterilize.
But something did go wrong.
The cats became to many.
The say that guest leave there cats behind!
So what does Center Parcs do, they catch the cats en put them to sleep, kill them!
Kittens and grown up, yes, also the little ones!
They make a profit of 150 Mil. Euro pro year! (more then 104 Mil. Gbp)
Not one penny may go to the cats, they Are also not be feed-ed anymore!
I know a organisation that want to help the cats, they did a proposal, Center Parcs didn't even answer them!
I want to save a whole family, 4 kittens, mother and father.
Center Parcs say no!
So they don't want to save the cats!!!!!
They only want to kill them!
This is going on in the parcs called: Meerdal, Loohorst, Eemhof, Kempervennen, Zandvoort and Huttenheugte.
Probably also in the other two, Zélande and Heijderbos and in Belgium, France and Germany.
I'll find out!
So now i need your help.
Who can tell me how the situation is in the UK?
The parcs are called: Whinfell Forest, Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest and Longleat Forest.
What are they doing with the cats?
Please let me know, maybe it can help to save the dutch cats. :thanks:

Kindly regards,
Anne
