Title: Cats and Christmas Trees
Post by: Mark on December 14, 2015, 00:07:24 AM
We have never had much of a problem in the past, but this year, Ingrid has been a nightmare. She keeps climbing up in the tree and knocking the baubles off. Our best one, a hand painted one OH bought in a Christmas market in Switzerland a few years back was the first victim. All glass ornaments have been removed and we ended up buying fabric ones at a craft market today - shame as we had some nice ones.

EVERYTHING is a game to her. I think she is going to be the eternal kitten. She is still tiny. When I reached in to grab her, my hands were fair game and also took a battering. Luckily the lights are LED but I am worried about her get tangled in wires.

RIP cat bauble.

She is gorgeous.  :Luv:

The hoolies broke a glass ornament last Christmas, it was 60 odd years old. They also broke a Wedgewood angel, but I managed to glue it back together.
It's very sad when special baubles are broken.

Oh what a shame about your lovely bauble!

Although, she does look ever so gorgeous in the tree

At least you still have one, mine was up and down again within 24 hours because my monster kittens were determined to chew their way through the bulbs and wires  :tired:

We still have a photo of the bauble intact. OH was in Basel for a meeting and it was bought in a christmas market. his was when it was on the bedside table at the hotel. :) http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn224/MarkB_014/bauble.jpg

Hey Mark, good to see your back  ;) then again, you may have been back for a while, as I seem to be the one with a busy schedule nowadays
But I'm always lurking in the background tho  :shify: obtw, Robbie has absolutely no interest in the Christmas tree, just looks at it for
a second then keeps walking.... He's a strange one :evillaugh:

Thanks everyone. I'm back, bu won't be on that much - so much to catch up on!

We bought some fabric decorations on Sunday. Ingrid is still knocking them off and even claimed one  :evillaugh:

Aw Mark - am loving the photos (except the bauble broken on the floor of course)   :shify:

So far the gurlcat kittens have batted the odd bauble, explored the tree (which stayed standing) and stole a lower bauble.  I'm amazed really.  Love that Ingrid claimed her own toy.  :Luv:

Stuart - good to see you post again.   ;D

I don't think I will be able to relax until the tree is down again. She often plays with one of her squeaky mice or catnip toys and makes lots of noises doing it - meowing etc - yesterday, I was 'resting my eyes' in the afternoon when I heard her out in the hallway making a commotion. It makes me nervous at the best of times, but yesterday I heard a rustling sound as well as her cries. My first thought was that she was caught up in the tree. I dashed out into the hallway, only to find her 'killing' a mini cracker she had taken from the tree!  :evillaugh:

The words "cat" and "christmas tree" should never been in the same sentence let alone putting the articles in the same room

Too lifelike for my liking Sue :D

Although I don't encourage it, what can I do other than enjoy it. It isn't as if there is any point telling a cat off? :D

Absolutely none.  Especially because quite often, your smile gives the lie to the whole waggley finger thing.
