Please, please, please can anybody out there give this super boy a loving, forever home?
His name is 'James', he is approx 14 years of age and currently living in a cattery on the Suffolk Coast - where his owners abandoned him over 9 months ago. >:(
Here is what the lady who is currently caring for James says about him:
James is a tabby DSH of approx. 14 yrs and a neutered male. He has had no
health problems in the last 9 months, apart from an ulcerated eye when he
first came. The eye was treated and healed, though it is slightly cloudy
compared to the other one. He happily uses a litter tray and eats anything
put in front of him. He is showing his age a little - he likes to stand in
corners and meow at nothing, and his claws don't entirely contract - but he
is still able to jump 2 or 3 feet and climb a log at 45 degrees. His main
ambition in life is to find a passer by and sit on them for as long as
possible. He ignores other cats and a single dog that came by, and doesn't
have any preferences about people, though I think he'd find young children
very trying.'
She has given me permission to post this information and the photos below.
If you would be interested in homing this wonderful puss...
Please PM me for contact details.

Such a cute lookinf lil ffaaccceeee!
-
Could he be rehomed out of area if we had a CP check done?
We are in Kent.
-
Hi HH,
Yes, I think the lady who is currently looking after James would be happy with that - nobody is sure what he's like travelling though, hence the preference for a local home.
Are you interested then?
-
Yes we are interested :shy: but the reason we haven't posted sooner is because we were worried about such a long lived cat being able to cope with the journey. Sharon from Canterbury CP pointed us in his direction last week after a cat we were hoping to offer a home to became poorly and sadly got his angel wings. :(
We do live with Boo a male black DSH, our 6th to date feline friend, who is placid and dangerous only to food ( we aren't sure it even touches the sides on the way down! ;) ) who is aged between 11 and 14 yrs old (we had two vets give us two ages - he was a rescue cat who had been homeless for some considerable time.). We have a 19 yr old daughter and between us ( daughter works shifts and I work afternoons only) there is someone in the house 90% of the time. When there isn't it is only for upto 2 hrs at the most and normally only 2 or 3 times a week.
-
Sorry to hear about the poor soul you were going to adopt. :(
It sounds as if you could offer James a lovely home, I'll pm you my contact details and perhaps we could have a chat tomorrow - off to do some litter trays now, before I get some shut eye!

Hi all i put Happy Kitty onto James after dear Sparky was PTS last week. This lady is one of those few individiual that want oldies and i saw James on Purrs a while back.. Being so laid back he seems ideal. Pls bare in mind folks that i have rehomed via other rescues many cats out of our area, namely lovely Gizzy the Maine Coon and even Melissa, so to me as long as the puss cat isnt distressed with the journey, Distnce isnt a issue when a loving home is just round the corner. Look at Kirstys babes now lovely puss cats.
I realise not all CP branches do this, but i find it (with sensible precautions and of course homechecks) a very good way of seeking homes for cats that continually get overlooked and we all want our puss cats to find loving homes.
Canterbury CP is more then willing to do HC for James.. and i hope the lady who is currently caring for him has a cat with our lady in Kent and see if this is a match for one very lucky puss cat..
-
:) Very best of luck with this, we collected Byron from London (she was 22 then) and brought her up to Yorkshire - she was fine, this is her 3rd year with us :Luv:
-
Good luck with this - James looks a charmer!
-
Thank you so much for all your help so far. :Luv:

Strangely enough I think I'll pass on your generous offer Sue. :evillaugh: Grandkids sound fun but you know the kitty love is second to none. :Luv2:

:evillaugh: I don't blame you for rejecting my ever-so-generous offer, but it was worth a try. :sneaky: Bet you can't wait now, for tomorrow!
-
Oh yes. :yesss:
I have a check list that is growing. :reading 2:
Feliway
Basket
Blankets
Food
Water
Dishes
Litter
Harness
Lead
Hope that's enough. It's a long journey, 2 - 3 hrs.
-
Good luck for tomorrow ;D
I would leave harness/lead off the list and replace with a da bird and a catnip banana!! Available from the purrs shop ;) ;)
-
We are only taking the in case he insists on needing a break. *crosses fingers* But we hope we don't need them.
We've started to introduce the Feliway into our house. Hopefully it will make things a little easier.
-
Getting excited HH? ;D
-
Excited and nervous. :shy:
-
Well HH - here's hoping your Funny Valentine James has a safe journey home with you. ;D
-
Oh I cant wait!
Pictures please :evillaugh:
-
:waiting: Sigh.......
-
can't wait to hear how the journey went
we need some happy news on here, with so many poorly pusses, and two much loved losses :(
-
Sorry folks it was a 3 hour journey each way.
James was absolutely perfect all the way back. No noisy, mess or attempts to escape. He wolfed down some biscuits enroute and a sachet of food as soon as he arrived. Apart from a 10 second hissing match, both boys are gingerly wandering around the sitting room together. That is after Boo climbed in the other cat basket so he could feel part of the fuss.
-
I've just caught up with this. Brilliant - keep us posted, HH :wow:
PS have a nice glass of something after six hours in the car.
-
Another success from the Canterbury CP team.. i am well pleased for James and just shows you the benefits of networking.. Which bring me to the point.. if you dont post about cats needed homes (esp the difficult ones) then no one is going to know about them are they!! Just by chance i found James and he seemed to fit the bill.... Keep in touch and let us know how things go...
If anyone can help with one or two of our puss cats then we would be much appreciated!!!! (so would the puss cats!)
-
So pleased all went well ;D, he sounds just like Byron not a peep out of her all that way and settled in straight away, it was as if she knew :Luv:
-
Excellent - will move this to the "sorted" section. :) Wonderful news!
