Hi my friend Margaret died today and I need to re-home her 2 cats. They are male, approx 9 yrs old fully vacc'd and neutered.
Shes had them since they were tiny babies as they were hand reared after their mum was stolen from the rescue.
As Margaret has a council flat I need to find homes really quickly. I did get her to join the cinnamon trust but apparantly when I wasnt their she phoned and told them she didnt need their help so they wont take them >:(
They are currently being fed by neighbours and Im going in doing trays
Any help you can give would be great
Thank you

:( The poor little loves what a sad situation. I do hope that you can find them homes asap
-
Really sorry to hear about your friend Tab  I know it must be a lot to take in at the moment but have you gone through the list of rescues in your area from CatChat?
Hope they find a loving home soon
-
Im going to phone around tomorrow and see what I can do
Thanks all

Sorry for the loss of your friend Tab!
Positive vibes for these babes to be in new homes soon!
-
Tab I am so sorry for the loss of your friend - what a shame about the cinnamon trust :(
-
We've hit a snag or two.
Bascially the rescues Ive spoken to up to now have said no they're full. Some in a nice way others not so nice. The RSPCA have been the most useful which has amazed me
BUT we cant do anything because as Margaret hasnt left a will theres no one to legally give the cats for re homing. The RSPCA have given me a number where I can get an inspector to visit and they can legally take the cats under the pets alone scheme because theres no one at home and it classes as neglect. Ive got to phone tomorrow and see if what Ive been told actually happens (you can tell I have faith in them cant you :evillaugh: )
If it does happen our local RSPCA have said that they wont be put to sleep at the age of 9 or 10 and as brothers they will be re-homed together so fingers crossed we can work something out

Oh I so hope this all works out fine. to you - I'm so sorry you've lost your friend
-
Wishing you lots of luck for these two
-
 well done to you all for caring for them
BUT we cant do anything because as Margaret hasnt left a will theres no one to legally give the cats for re homing
That wouldnt be a problem elsewhere :innocent: the fact they have no owner they cant be signed over can they, very strange. Its good the branch wont pts but i wouldnt be so sure if they were taken by an inspector.

I have just asked someone from Machester if they are interested in these boys.
They lost their cat a few weeks ago to old age
-
Michelle if they would like them and all their beds, toys ect I would be so happy to break the law (technically) and make sure they are happy.
Its breaking my heart this. Ive know these two since they were tiny babies and I hate the idea of not knowing how they are. I wish I could take them in but I know that Amber wouldnt accept them and it wouldnt be fair on Mogs who is going downhill again and losing weight at the moment (I keep cuddling her and telling I cant cope with anything else at the moment so shed better get well)

Just been speaking with the lady and she would like them asap as she cant bare them being on there own ...especially with the fireworks
They are a lovely couple and the boys would have a wonderful home
-
She logged off 1 min before you posted the update saying they were interested  Have you emailed / PM'd her?
Got everything crossed this works out :wish:
-
Yes I have sent her a PM
The couple are really excited and even prepared to go and get them tonight....bless them. The lady was in tears as it upset her thinking about the boys being on their own and just losing their human mum
-
Maybe we could do a group telepathic communication thingy! TAAAAAABBBBBBBB, check your emails! ;D
Have absolutely everything crossed this works out for all concerned, your friend is right - they must be so frightened, all alone and wondering where their Mum has gone :(

OMG OMG OMG Woooohhoooooooo
They're coming tomorrow!!
Of course now Im worried that the cats will go and hide and have to be dragged out which isnt a good look but I have explained that they are both very timid as they've had strangers in and out been left and stuff.
Michelle Thank you so much.
I appreciate this more than words can possibly say.

Brilliant news, I'm sure Margaret would be pleased and I bet she would be glad to have such a good friend looking out for them
Hope the boys settle into their new home quickly :)
-
;D That is such good news! well done Tab and Michelle
-
Well Rainbow and Duffy are on their way to their new home :wooooo: :cheer: :wooooo: :cheer: :wooooo: :cheer:
Rainbow went into his box quietly but Duffy decided to hide behind the settee and do the overflowing cat bit where for each part you pick up another part attaches itself to the floor and becomes a dead weight. That said when they were both in boxes Duffy did the chin on the bars eyes closed enjoyment when Rick stroked his chin. Beautiful to see :Luv: :Luv:
Im sure they will be really happy and loved in their new home
Thank you so much to Michelle and Rick for giving them a chance and to Michelle (furbabystar) for suggesting them to her friends.

:welcome: to Purrs
The boys are gorgeous :Luv2: It's bound to take them a little while to settle in as it's been a big upheaval for them, losing their human Mum, being left all alone then taken to a new house with a new Mum & Dad. I'm sure they'll reward you in time with lots of love and cuddles :Luv2:
-
Aw bless em! They are doing what is to be expected.... Some nice treats and easy talking and they will be like putty in your hands! :Luv2:
:welcome: to Purrs by the way! ;D
-
I am really pleased that something was sorted for these two, odd response from the RSPCA, wonder how they deal with strays? Am sure they will come out of hiding soon, but at least they are safe and warm .
-
:welcome: to Purrs and I am sure in a couple of days with all your tlc they will settle

Aw bless. I'm not sure who's who but the black puss in the bottom pic liooks so sad - he must be missing his mummy and doesn't realise yet that he has wonderful new parents. I 'inherited' a mature cat when his owner died and he settled in no problem. Mind you, he'd been on his own in the house in winter, with no heating and just a neighbour coming in to look after him for 5 weeks while his mum was in hospital so I think he's he'd got over his initial sadness and was just glad for a nice warm bed.
Welcome to Purrs by the way.
-
It must be a big shock to lose their meowmy , have lots of strangers in and out and then to be moved to somewhere new but am sure he will become so happy soon
-
Rainbow is the black cat and Duffy the black and white.
When Margaret got them she had not long since lost her old siamese who was called Blue. She wasnt given a copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem and said her next cat would be called Rainbow. When she was offered an all black kitten it appealed to her. The kittens were hand reared as their Mum was stolen from the rescue centre. Because of that Duffy was more black and yellow than black and white when she got him. The vets werent happy about him being bathed though because he was tiny (hes not now!) so they told her he had to stay a scruffy duffy for while.
Hope that helps

Lovely story about the names :Luv2: My 'inherited' cat was called Tiny because when we went to pick him up (the first time we'd seen him) we said 'Aww isn't he Tiny'. He was previously called Blackie but we didn't keep the name because he wasn't black whereas our other cat (Korky) was.
-
Thanks for that, now I understand alot.

Glad he's settling in :Luv2: You could hear him purring away and was that fireworks you could hear in the background? Can't wait to hear that Duffy has taken his brothers lead in the not too distant future too :)
-
The "Tail up" says it all :)
-
Yes it was fireworks in the background but he does not seem to be bothered.
He has now gone behind the sofa to find Duffy.

:Luv2: Had Dufy puurriiiinnnnngggggg tonight, he such a nice man...
-
that's fantastic that they have settled in so quickly, and a credit to Margaret, who showed them that humans are nice to be around
-
Credit to her all round.
These are two of the nicest cats it has been my pleasuer to meet.
They don't seem to know what aggressions is, they have never gone to claw me, bite me or anything. they just lay there and wait and then move on.
-
Awww thats brilliant. Even when I had to grab them to take to the vets once I actually caught them they just lay there and didnt fight.
They are lovely and it sounds like they are well and truely home now

That bought a tear to my eye seeing him tentatively having a little stroke from your OH. Sooooo pleased you took them on, can't begin to think about how frightened and lonely they must have been after losing their previous owner :(
-
Awwww - the way he kept coming back for more strokes says everything - he's HOME :Luv2:
-
:Luv: Ahh, It's choked me up seeing that, made my day that has
