Mark, the doggie with Luna is Darcy, Caroline's puppy... she's a little Border Terrier like Miah not quite a year old now.

You can tell because Darcy hasn't had her coat stripped yet.

Miah and Darcy are both brilliant with the kittens. Caroline has done a wonderful job teaching the dogs to be surrogate kitten mums.

That is Miah - she is lovely. This is a pic I posted a couple of years ago of her with a tiny kitten

Not a very good pic but I only had my rubbish phone.

I wonder what happened to the kitten, May. Hopefully she is a big girl now in a lovely home

Edit - I don't think it is Miah as the colouring looks wrong

- I guess Caroline has another dog now

Got an update from Sharon. Pins are in and she has been walking gently around the surgery. Sharon is picking her up on Monday to take her to her foster mum for cage rest.

Hopefully we can get a pic.

It can be hard as they really play to every emotion you have during there confinement - our house was affectionatly known as Starlag Wilson during Puma's prision sentence

One of the experienced fosterers is going to take her. I'm not sure I could cope with it either. I guess it is a case of 'cruel to be kind'.

Sad that her owners don't want her back but probably better for her to find a home that can provide for her and give her the love she deserves. Can't believe she's already had a litter and just 6-8 months old

Great news for the little lady, having rebulit Puma and full price including our discount I know how these things work - it was the 8 weeks of cage rest that nearly killed us as Puma was a little sod and played everyone a winning game and he got out for 3 hours supervised a day he hated being in his perspex lined pen to stop his bolts getting caught on the bars

4 years on he is my little Baby Boo and only has a very slight limp if you know where to look

Sharon just sent an email.
One of the vets who is an orthopaedic specialist has agreed to do the op for £200

She will need cage rest.

Apparently the owners don't want the cat back as they have lots of other animals

(poor things

)

She has had one litter but is now spayed. She is 6- 8 months old (not 18 as they previously said)

Vet-wise, it sounds like a similar situation to a couple of years ago, when one of the vets at PAH vets in Canterbury operated on a broken pelvis and just charged the branch for the metal parts they had to order in and no charge for the actual op.

Apparently, the vet and nurses have fallen in love with her - she is all black.

I hope so. Although in reality, we know most vet trips come under the excess amount.

May sound harsh, but if people can't manage £1 a week to cover their cat, should they really have pets at all?

I took a call today from a vet asking if we will contribute to the cost of fixing up an 18month old cat with a broken femur from RTA. The owner brought the cat in but has no money. They have given the vet £40 PTS charge but are willing to sign the cat over. I asked what kind of money they were talking about, they said the normal price would be £1600 but they aren't looking for that much but want something - "we can't go fixing up every broken cat brought into us for free" - Caroline is going to speak to them tomorrow but I can't see anywhere near that kind of money being paid out. I suggested to Sharon about asking them how much amputation is - surely it must be a fraction of the cost?
