They are fine according to the last update I had, thanks Tan.  :) They are with our welfare lady, Caroline. Two of them have been reserved, including my dear Pale Face (who was the first to be picked.  :naughty: )

I am hoping to go and see them later this week if Caroline is free. Will try to get fresh pics. :shy:

The Essex crew have now been all reunited and have gone to stay with Caroline our welfare officer. They are all growed up now, well a BIT growed up.  :naughty: I can't take credit for these pics as Caroline took them but I thought they were wonderful.  :briggin:

Some people can't understand why I get through so many towels when I have kittens. So here's a pictorial explanation.  The kitty with her nose in the trough is our beloved, infamous Spike.  :innocent: I've taken to bathing her in the evenings but this morning's breakfast was exceptionally messy so she's had a bath already.  She is getting very annoyed at this process.

Just a wee update for you.  :)

Things went well for a few days and then I started to worry. A few of the kittens point blank refused to take any milk from me, no matter what the form of its presentation was.  :tired: We tried syringes, bottles, mixing it in with mush... zilch.  They were having meat mush, mind you, but wouldn't touch it with milk mixed in. I also realised they weren't actually nibbling, just sucking up gravy.  :scared: I did mash it fairly finely I thought but even so, they were just sucking up gravy and the lumps they were either leaving or sucking on them like ice cubes until they dissolved.  We tried different sorts of kitten food and they all had the same results.

We decided to take some radical action mid week when I discovered 2 of them had actually lost weight.  :'( We split the litter and 2 in poorest condition went to our welfare lady Caroline.  ;) The remaining 4, including the now famous Pale Face and Spike stayed with me.  :innocent:

The two Caroline took clearly benefited from the split and started eating very well. Caroline does have a midas touch with small kittens.  :evillaugh: My 4 improved slightly, but only slightly.  Then on Thursday morning we had an emergency... during the night there had been an attack of sickness and diarrhoea and Pale Face was refusing her bottle and looking very dehydrated and looked like she was fainting.  :scared:

We raced her to the vet where she was re hydrated, given antibiotics plus other meds to claim down her bowels. The vet thinks she may have had a small tummy bug. An hour later she was back home bombing around like a loony again.  :innocent:

I had tried every trick I could think of bar one... to actually blend the kitten meat with a hand blender and make a puree. This, at last, has done the trick and I'm happy with the amount they are eating now.  :)

We've come to the conclusion that either they were around a week younger than we believed or that mum had not been able to give them adequate nutrition. They are slowly catching up now, we hope.  ;)

Pale Face continues to be a mummy's girl who loves her bot-bot. Spike looks like being semi long-haired and still needs daily baths due to her swimming in her food... when she's dried off and remains clean for 30 minutes, she's really pretty but is always having a bad hair day.  :evillaugh:

It's lovely though because we are starting to see characters come out. Spike is just a piglet, plain and simple. He's had so may face and legs washes I lost count.   He looks like a drowned rat ALL the time.     Little Paleface is a mummy's girl... she's decided it's HER bot-bot and no one else can have it.   She grips onto it for grim death and when she sucks on it her ears wiggle.

i'm sooooo jealous  ;D

They are wanting out of the pen now and I let them have a little wander around. Paleface 'caught' a bath sponge after a dramatic rugby tackle and was so pleased... but she had to abandon it as it was too big to drag back to mummy.  :briggin:

Wonderful. I bet it's heaven over there.  Love the little wiggly ears  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

I thought of you today, Teresa. I ran out of cotton walls balls (again  :tired: ) and had to go buy some more as the little darling needed a wash (again  :tired:). As I was handing over my money the lady behind the counter in Boots sniffed at the air said "Can you smell that? There's a funny smell... a bit like meat going off?"  :shify: " That'll be something to do with the Whiskas bomb that went off in my bathroom", says I.  :innocent:

  But better than smelling of Poopy ... i think  :shify: :evillaugh:
