I am pleased to report Miss Indy of the Clan cats is home and now on the inside ;D

I got a phonecall from my Neighbour to advise there was a cat in the trap about half a mile from the house on the track - shouldn't be advises me I haven't put any food in it for 2 days but thought it wasn't working as |I have had sod all in it for 2 weeks but on checking find her hissyness - so sometimes not baiting a trap works

She is currently on my nice clean bed with Ace, Blue, Riley and Baby Beijing!

Funny you should mention string Janey. I have stood there on the drive, food in trap, trap NOT set, but me holding the door open with a piece of string, ready to lower when he enters. The neighbours think I am complety barking

Yesterday I put the food half in the trap, the door tied ope with above string and the back, door taken out, he did go in and eat. I wont give up on him. I thought last night and even Lee across the road said he looks cleaner, his white is deffo whiter. So maybe as I am feeding him properly he is looking after himself a little more. Lee said are you putting vitamins in his food? as he looks a lot cleaner. I wont give up on him  :) . He is mine, and I do tell him that I love him too :Luv: .

I've had that happen once, and the last one I trapped took a while because her 2 siblings went in together and she was the timid one and didn't follow.   You will get him Gail if you persevere just make sure the food is as far in as possible, sometimes the string type on can be helpful if they're like that but you need to be there to pull it.

If I've had problems and scared them it sometimes helps to not set it for a few days but leave it open so they get used to going in again without anything happening.  Then after a few day set it again  :sneaky:

Sid went in - stepped  on the foot plate and it went  off yes - BUT he is quite long so the door caught his bum and and he backed out.  :'(

What I've found is smelly fish like mackerel always worked well.

If it's the trap where you set it and they stand on the step to get the food then I've found you've to make sure that the food is right at the back so he'll have to stand on the step to get it (some are crafty and lean over) ......and make sure that the lever is set right at the very end otherwise it won't go off.

Make sure he's very hungry too, hopefully no one else is feeding him  :shify:

 ;D Good luck Liz!

Can you give me any tips on trapping.

with Sid it is once bitten twice shy - the little beggar avoids the trap like the flippin plague now as he knows what coming.

What happened Gail did the he just miss being trapped?

Due to a technical black cat error  :censored:Miss Indy is out playing   So have dusted down the traps, greased up the moving parts and will be setting them this evening - should be interesting to see what I get - I would like Indy back and Sopyder for his bit removal but will settle for whatever likes highlife fish tuna tins :evillaugh:
