would like to offer a home to a very elderly/disabled cat - one that needs somewhere to spend its retirement and could live as an indoor cat with the occassional trips out on a harness if wanted.
I am thinking of 15yrs plus? or around there.
I have been searching all sorts of sites for one but can't find one.
If anyone can suggest one I would be happy to hear about it. Colour, sex etc is irrelevent... any area
Please let me know..but needs to be one that is happy to snoozle its days away.... in comfort and pampered of course.

Which area are you Bluex?
:) Have you checked in our cats needing homes section?
-
there's an elderly Burmese looking for a retirement home on Catchat
http://www.catchat.org/forum.html

I think there's a couple on Catchat, another that's a bit poorly too needing a safe home to live out rest of his days. Also one I posted in lost and found section for a rescue down Essex which is deaf/blind and will be up for homing in a few weeks if owner not found, don't know any more details until I get to speak to the fosterer.

I am in the Midlands in Stafford but am willing to travel a reasonable distance...obviously too far may be too upsetting to the cat if elderly / disabled :Luv:

If you are able to take2 cats then check out Little Wob and Big Brother on CatChat
Here is the description
LITTLE WOB and BIG BROTHER at Burton Joyce Cat Welfare, Nottinghamshire
>>Do you have a very special home for these very special cats?
Oh hi there, I'm Big Brother and I'm actually big brother to..er..my little sister, Little Wob. She's such a special girl and I try to take care of her as best I can; you see she has a neurological problem which makes her wobble and shake. We were born in the cat pens and we've never known life outside so, although we're young and like to have as much fun playing as the next kits, we're very nervous around people. We'd need to be homed indoors as Wob is vulnerable and we'd be too frightened to live with children. We're just looking for that needle-in-a-haystack home where our humans take the time to get to know us. I heard a rumour that they think we're unhomeable but this sounds like nonsense to me. Fancy proving me right and the others wrong? Please call and ask about us!
If you have the patient, dedicated home these two are looking for then we'd love to hear from you; it's about time they had their paws under someone's table! Please call 07881 430387 or email: bjcats@googlemail.com, and please mention that you saw this notice on Cat Chat, thanks!

I adopted my 17 yr old deaf/blind boy with various illnesses (who was to be pts) from Essex last year and he was/is fine and a 22 yr old from London 4yrs ago and still with us :) I'm in Yorkshire.
Although I agree some wouldn't be able to travel many would.

Bram in Blackpool has been looking for AGES.....
http://blackpoolcatsincare.webs.com/catsneedinghomes.htm (http://blackpoolcatsincare.webs.com/catsneedinghomes.htm)
There's also Shaman, who's FIV - he's been there quite some time too.
-
:Luv2: aww Bram, still waiting :(
-
I know, bless him. He doesn't like other cats much otherwise I think I'd have caved long ago....
-
Yup, I think I considered him before we adopted Pep if he was for homing then?
-
Just looked at his thread - I started it June 2009 and that was a month or so after he came into care. Poor old lad.
-
:( Yup thought so JS, we adopted Pep in August. I agree it's the no other cats thing that's often a disadvantage sadly.
-
Would Bram be happy as an indoor cat?...he looks rather cute
-
If you email NicholaHolye@aol.com or call her on 07708972217 Nicky can tell you all she knows about Bram. I do know he's been with her rescue over a year now.
-
Thnaks have emailed Nichola ;D
-
We have a 15yo long hIRED B/W MALE IN (IF THE FOSTERER CAN BEAR TO PART WITH !)
-
Sorry not sure about having a long haired cat I would prefer a short haired...I hope the lad finds a good home soon :shy:

I saw this on MSE a few days ago 'Need to find a warm home and comfortable lap for 18 year old cat. Any ideas?' The original poster hasn't been online for a few days but if you're interested you could PM her, if you're not a member then I can PM her a link to this thread on Purrs.

someone has just reported a found b/w 3 legged cat in coventry. we took one in to Jill yesterday (a fluffy female 13+) so now think there a a 3-legged cat convention going on. the lady who found it cannot keep it so it is looking for a new home (or will be soon , shes had it almost a week).
(we cannot squeeze anything else in - trying to place a mum and 3 4-week old kittens as a first priority.)
just heard back from vets, he )the black and white 3-legged) has a touch of arthritis in the other leg and is 10+ years old.
and of course , Romeo a big black fussy boy but FIV+ and not old.

Which rescue are these cats with?
-
coventry cat group

I dealt with a call today. The woman has an 18 year old who howls at night. She is going to open a B&B so said she can't afford to have the cat upsetting guests. She is out of our area but I gave her other numbers. She said she has until October but may have to consider PTS :( - her vet has offered PTS for the ct and her 13 year old dog who is blind :'(
-
>:( Shame on the vet, encouraging that complete lack of respect for the animals.

.... and shame on the owners!
:(

Did you manage to get hold of Nicky about Bram?
-
Yes I did ...but unfortunately Bram likes to go out and about and I am offering an indoor home :(
-
Oh, that is a shame. :( I'm sure Nicky had a blind kitten in (I called it Pugh - you'll get that if you like pirates....) - do you want me to check if he's still there?
-
Nicky says Bibby would be quite happy as an indoor only cat. He's a male of undecided age who was left in a boarded up house.
He's on this page:

Thankyou..but I am enquiring about a blind 15yr old boy CP have in at Birmingham ..will get back to you if that doesn't work out :thanks:
-
Not a problem. :) Good luck, I think it's great either way.

Hi, we have Buzz a 12 year old boy who came in when he lost his owner tracicaly (suicide) he has a slight grade 2 heart murmer though nothing of concern yet.. He has greived very badly but has been helped to overcome this in his foster home.. He very much likes a home that he can lay about in and come for cuddles/strokes.. He is in Nottingham area.
