The thread was started by a moderator. An animal in need is an animal in need, this section is bound to get the most attention in this instance. ;)
Thread split bt Tan to keep other thread on topic

An animal in need is an animal in need.
Whilst I would agree with you, most of us have enough to worry about as we cannot even help all the cats. :(
The thread was started by a moderator.
While I don't wish to be argumentative I would say that just because a Mod starts off a topic it does not necessarily make it right. There are many of us peasants who have a very wide knowledge of animals and rescue, but choose not to ask to be a mod.

Thank you for your sage comments Ela and whilst I agree that rescues have enough on their hands, this appeal wasn't aimed at any one rescue or rescues. If it doesn't pan out we can move it later however, it is an urgent appeal and this is the best section to give it the most attention.

You have to be asked to be a mod, you dont ask! My goodness what is your problem!
-
so the fact that it comes under the section 'all things cat' means nothing then?
I think that means the board is a free for all!
other boards related to a specific animal seem to manage to hide away the cat stuff under a general 'all other animal' section and we do have a section for such things. Maybe we should create another board in the non cat section? Goodness, we've even had goats here.
perhaps we should have a poll to stop bickering on the subject or just agree to use the forum properly!

At the end of the day a life is a life, wether it be cat or dog, and if it's in danger it needs to be highlighted. What would be the point in starting the thread for it to be over looked and then nothing done.
I cant believe people are complaining about this!

I love dogs but think it is supposed to be about cat rescue - I do wonder sometimes though.

I think that's an excellent idea. I'll ask Tan if she'll create another section in 'Other animals' called 'Rescue and Rehoming'.

I have no problem, but I understood some members had offered and one may ask for your name to be placed on a waiting list. But anyway it is not worth arguing about. ;D

I would agree that a separate section is a sound idea. I appreciate that it may seem like some of us are burying our heads in the sand if we don't know, but many of us and not only those in rescue are working flat out to help the little ones and it makes it worse when you have a love of all animal life and can do absolutely nothing about it.
Our branch of CP actually help and have helped over many years numerous dogs, ferrets, fish, fox, (1 baby who someone thought a kitten, having said that we would have helped anyway), hamsters, hedgehogs rabbits, terrapins, tortoise, & the odd bat or two at our own expense. Unfortunately we can only help the very local ones that come to our attention. Knowing the actual facts of all those in desperate need is just an extra pressure which we can well do without.
I trust this helps to explain were some of us are coming from.

No probs i can pop a section in the other animals thread for rescue for urgent cases, then it's your choice to pop in and read. :briggin:

Good idea Tan.

Done :)
I have put that it is for urgent cases only.
Will move this thread over to the new section.
Me always welcome any sugesstions for the forum :) maybe we should have a sugesstion box in the forum help section.

Just wanted to clarify, all the dogs I receive information on are under threat of euthanasia. I have no idea what rescue it is, I just know that the contact I have is associated with a lady I hold in quite high regard who works in rescue herself for all types of animals.
