Title: Letterbox cat charity T.Shirts -- UPDATE 27/08/08 - Guess What I've Got! :)
Post by: LeighK on July 23, 2008, 10:59:50 AM
Hi folks, I have recently been discussing with Tan the idea of producing some limited edition Letterbox T.Shirts with all procedes except the production and P&P costs going to cat charities.

Please see the Alfie-Cat homepage http://www.alfie-cat.co.uk (http://www.alfie-cat.co.uk) for details and e-mail me webmaster@alfie-cat.co.uk if you are interested in the idea. I am waiting to see what the demand might be before announcing pricing details but have been in touch with a T.Shirt supplier/printer and the pricing doesn't look prohibited.

and shown here modelled by me  ;D

The T.Shirts feature most of the Purrs' member cats shown in the animation.

Cheers

Leigh

EDIT: If you'd like your cat/s to be imortalised in the animation and included in the T.Shirt design then please post here and let me know and I will then think about adding a new scene to the animation and post requesting you to supply suitable pictures. Of course I'm always open to sugestions as to how these cats might be brought into the animation.

Great!!, thanks, that's one  ;D

I don't think that quantity will effect pricing that much until one gets to "serious" quantities and I can't see that happening so it's not a case of dissapointing anyone if we only get a few interested parties we will still be able to fullfill all orders but of course the more the merrier and the more we can raise for charity, all I can donate is my artwork and copyright FOC.

Cheers

Leigh

PS. If your cat is in the animation but not in the scenes shown on the T.Shirt then I can swap scenes and produce some other sample artwork including the new scene/s.

I will definitely have one.  Funnily enough, I was thinking of PMing you, Leigh, and asking you to get me one  :wow:

Will they be possible in large sizes so as to be worn like a shift dress rather than a fitted T shirt?  Your design would be great for that  ;D

Hi Chris,

Thanks, I must admit that being a "bloke" I hadn't thought at length about styling but as most of the interested parties are most likely to be ladies I will attempt to find out more about the styling etc. I do know that white is slightly cheaper than black to print on, IMO the design works better on dark colours, more "Rocky".

As soon a I have accessed demand I'll go back to the T.Shirt people and discuss things in more detail and post here. Do you have an example pic of the style that you could post ?, Do you mean by "shift dress" the style of a longer length T.Shirt and yes, I did google it  ;D
Cheers

I think it works beautifully on black.

If you imagine a woman wearing a T shirt that is loose-fitting and comes down to mid-thigh, like a 1960s dress, that is what I mean.  I suspect you and Google got it right  ;)

I must admit that that was exactly how I pictured it BEFORE Googling it.

Like this perhaps, a new take on the "little black dress"  ;D

I'll see what they can do.

Thanks Dawn,

What I could do is another scene for the animation in which I could add more Purrs' peeps cats. I need to give it some thought and then those that are interested could send me suitable pics and they too could "go to the ball"  ;D and have thier cat(s)' pics included.

I could do another crown scene or suchlike with different cats.

I'll re-edit my original posting in a sec. with the suggestion.

Cheers and thanks

I wouldn't wait for me Leigh!  I've got three chips worth of cat photos and no idea how to get them off!!  I did hear I could get them put on a cd but have never got around to it, when the chip is full I just end up buying another one!

That's a shame Dawn, there must be some way to get a pic of your puds and I would love to get everyone that's interested in the idea's cat/s into the thing, makes it personal and better VFM as well.

I don't see to much of a hurry here, once the idea for a new scene comes together it won't take too long to incorporate and it'll take a while for the T.Shirt/dress idea to circulate amongst Purrs peeps and the order to be placed etc.

Cheers

Maybe I should do some "Tabby Road" T.Shirts.

 ;D

OR maybe I could do a double-sided T.Shirts/dresses/small bags/grande bags/handbags/sandbags/shopping bags/blouses/scarves/raincoats/overcoats/life jackets/wet suits/space suits/cat suits etc. etc. etc. with the "Tabby Road" design on one side and the animation stills on the other  ;D

Ann,

Can you send me or post a few pics of your cats? preferable sitting face on and I'll include them in the crowd scene and re-do the animation where appropriate.

Cheers

Or whichever two of the three graphics you wish printed on front and reverse.

Good morning folks,

I now have some sample pricing for you.

Black T. Shirt with single sided artwork = £17.00 + P&P

As above but double-sided = £20.00 + P&P see my previous post below for artwork combinations.

I am waiting on the exact P&P costings for the supplier to ship directly to the "customer" to avoid extra shipping costs.

For every T.Shirt sokl £8.50 will go to Tan at Purrs for distribution to a suitable cat charity, no money is being made by myself all the costings are included in the above figures.

I will post P&P charges as soon as possible.

Cheers

Leigh

Okidokey, thanks Chris, I will endevour to find out about the dress thing.

On another note it is over 90 degrees in my flat yesterday and today and today I have no water at all, nice one Thames  :censored: Water. I just lugged 8L of water back from Lidls so that we've all got something to drink but it's like the Sahara in here, hot as Hades and no water in sight  ;D

Aren't cats funny?, you'd have thought that the last place that they'd want to curl up when it is so hot was on your lap but I've been Frankied four time so far today. I think he's using me as a heat exchanger, transferring all his body heat to me before jumping down. I suppose that me stroking him and ruffling his hair might let a bit of heat escape, that's all I can guess.

BTW, those interested in the T.Shirts can PM me their size. I will get the order together as soon as we have a reasonable number of orders.

Thank  for stickying this Tan hun.

Cheers

Leigh

Edit: Still no water at 4:30, thames Water finally acknowledging a burst water main is responsible and Frankie chilling out :

you are so going to regret starting this Leigh!  that's a pretty good amount going to charity so I'm sure people will take up the offer, are the t shirts the bog standard type - I like skinny t shirts myself so I suppose I'd have to order a smallish one

aah Thames water I remember them well, actually we never had trouble with them but southern electric don't get me started!
Title: Re: Letterbox cat charity T.Shirts and sample pricing
Post by: LeighK on July 28, 2008, 09:47:43 AM
Well I'd like folks to PM their sizes/prefernces and I'll try and accommodate all as best as can be done.

If there was ONE utility company that I'd swap (if they didn't have a monopoly that is) then it would be them, they are useless, terribly poor service and customer service, in fact they've just been fined by OFFWAT for their poor customer relations. I bought 2 litre bottles of much nicer tasting spring water for less than they charge me per litre for tap water! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I have tried to keep the cost of the T.Shirts and printing down so as to keep the charity donation as high as possible. I guess that folks will be buying them as much, if not more so for the charity donation as the actual item. I don't expect P&P to be that much but will post details ASAP.

So come on folks, dig deep, I can only sit back and hope that the idea is of interest to folks. I shall contact Tan again to see if she is in a position to suggest suitable cat charities/rescue groups to which the procedes on the T.Shirts will go and these will be named in this porting.

Cheers

Leigh

Or the alternative version perhaps :

Same pricing and options as below but exclusive offer to those who kindly sent me pics of their cats which I included in the animation.

Cheers

Leigh

PS. What is the name of that charity that specialises in FIV cats ?. I remember it is ninelives/paws for life who re-home elderly and FiV/FelV etc. cats. I thi9nk that this would be good as Suzie is elderly and the boys are FIV+.

I do like the Limited Edition 'my cat caught that gig'  :wow:  That would be brilliant!

Of the two treatments, I prefer the one without the arrows.  If you picture the garment being worn, the arrows would make it look a bit odd, particularly on ladies  :shy: (I used to be in the business  ;)).

:thanks: Tan that's great, a big thank you for all your help and support.  ;D

I just lost this posting so I'm re-typing it.

I have been thinking and discussing this with Tan. I'd like the 1st £100 raised to go to 9Lives/PAWs For Life cat charity with subsequent donations going to the Purrs In Our Heart Rescue Fund. The reason that I have chosen 9Lives/PAWs For Life http://www.pawsforlife.org.uk/ (http://www.pawsforlife.org.uk/) in particular is for their care and re-homing of elderly cats and those with FIV/FELV etc. As most of you know my three cats fit into one or other of these "cat"-egories (couldn't resist the pun)  ;D. Suzie is a beautiful 'ol girl senior catizen who I adopted from my mum when she went into a nursing home 2 years ago and my boys, Frankie and Alfie, both have FIV so you can see that this is a cause close to my heart. I always find it very heart-warming reading about the work of such charities in finding homes and looking after such cats who are most often far down the list when people are looking to adopt a cat.

I found this lovely poem on the 9Lives website:

REJECTION!

Rescued kittens, full of fun,
The people take their pick
And leave behind the older one.
She's lonely, so heartsick.

She's 9 years old, and every day
The people pass her by.
Don't want an older cat, they say,
Don't even want to try.

We want a kitten we can “train”
Not one set in her ways.
So in the shelter she'll remain
For many lonely days.

Pretty cats with fluffy fur
May get that second chance,
But ordinary mogs like her
Don't even rate a glance.

She feels her heart's about to break,
A picture of dejection,
And many times she'll have to take
This thoughtless, sad rejection.

She'd give out all the love she could,
You see it in her eyes.
If cats could cry real tears, she would,
And she can't verbalize.

She cannot speak to those that come
To choose; she can't appeal.
Oh, why did God make animals dumb
So they can't say how they feel?

Another BIG  :thanks: to those folks who have ordered their T.Shirt/s we are not far off the magic figure of 10 orders and when we get there I will place an initial order for these and post here/PM those who have ordered with confirmation of the placing of the order, details about payment and to request/confirm size details and delivery address. I plan to have the T.Shirts sent directly from the supplier to the customer so as to cut out the middle man (me) and thus save incurring extra postage cost and thus in turn maximise the charity donation. It would also be useful to let me have a contact e-mail address should it be necessary to contact you.

A NOTE FOR THOSE WHO'D LIKE YOUR CAT/S INCLUDED IN THE ANIMATION AND PRINTED ON THE T.SHIRT

If you'd like your cat/s included in the Animation and T.Shirt  and thus qualify for a limited edition "My cat caught that gig!" T.Shirt at the same price as the "regular" ones then please either PM me or post to this thread http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,15875.0.html (http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,15875.0.html) a suitable picture of your cat sitting upright facing the camera like the cats shown in the crowd scene above and highly preferably against a plain or uncomplicated background. I will then do a new crowd scene for the animation and include this on your T.Shirt. I'd like to wait until I have enough cats in the new crowd scene (roughly 15-20) and then it will make the job of printing/distribution easier.

Thank you all you special people,

PS. Oh and I'm buying one too, a "My cat caught that gig!" / Tabby Road one  ;D so that'll be another £8.50 in the "kitty"  ;D ;D sorry (not) about the dreadful pun.

Please PM me your T.shirt size required and your address to which you would like the T.Shirt sent but first please send me your picture/s of your cats and, when I have incorporated them into the animation and the T.Shirt design you will get the opportunity to see the finsihed artwork before confirming your order.

All the best

They're fun aren't they, I couldn't resist the play on words. Well I think I can safely say that they are pretty exclusive and, unless there's a Purrs convention, the odds on bumping into someone else in the UK whose wearing one are currently about about 6 million to 1 unless of course you are the kind Purrs member who has ordered one for her husband and one for herself in which case the odds are considerably lower :) If you wear one on holiday then the odds are about 6.6 billion to 1 and that's got to be considered exclusive by anyone's standards  ;D ;D

Considering the fact that most of us cat-slaves are hardly ever away from our fur babes then I'd say that you'll probably NEVER bump into anyone else wearing one!!!  ;D ;D

But then again you just might, isn't life interesting :)

You should absolutely do bags too.  ;D

Thanks Chris + OH you're a star, actually you are ALL stars, your generosity knows no bounds.

It's that time of the evening and it got me to thinking., just had a lovely warm refreshing shower accompanied by obne of my all time favourite albums Blondie's Eat to the Beat. so now all warm, clean and mellow  ;D

I love you guys, in all the years that I have had cats I've never "hung out" with a more genuine, generous and kindly crowd as we have assembled here on Purrs. Years ago,  my cats were a very "personal" thing, something that I kept close to me and never really shared with others outside my immediate friends and family but the last few years on Catchat and here have been such fun sharing experiences and laughs with you all and learning how much we all love cats, our cats, any cats and love to share this love of all things feline.

A very nice thing happened today, well two things really, on  the way to see mum in her nursing home after work I was walking up the road towards her home and on the corner next to the road there is a largish open garden area fenced in with low railings. Something caught my eye and it turned out to be two fox cubs playing with each other in the sunshine at 5:30 in the afternoon. They curled up together under the bushes and chased each other around the garden and I managed to take a few pics on my camera phone, if they are any good I'll post themj. I watched them for about ten minutes only a few yards away, it was beautiful. Then mum told me that they had a farm visit to her nursing home on Saturday andf they wheeled her down to the garden and she was able to stroke a pony, had a klitten on her lap etc. etc and that was "pridceless".

Edit: As promised not the best photo in the world due to it being my camera/phone, the two fox cubs:

Ann, no probs, take your time with the pics, no rush, i'll do my very best to incorporate them ASAP.

Cheers

Hi Sheryl and Sue,

Bless you both that's raised the total of T.Shirt into the monies for the Purrs Rescue Fund area and 9lives/PAWs for Life have their donation covered. In fact I have just been on the phone to the lady there to let her know about this posting.

What I'm now going to do is to finalise the arrangement with the T.Shirt supplier/printer and then I will PM everyone ASAP to confirm their details, addresses, size/quantity/design  requirements. I am going to ask Tan if she would be prepared to receive and hold the monies as everyone knows her and then the appropriate ammount can be forwarded to the supplier and Tan can retain the donation component and make the donation to the charities etc.

You can PM me or e-mail me : webmaster@alfie-cat.co.uk  with your pictures for inclussion in the animation and T.Shirt and you will then receive the "My cat caught that gig!" limited edition version if this is your choice. I will start work on incorporating your cat/s' pics as soon as I receive them and there will be an opportunity for you to have a look before you make payment.

Hope this all makes sense

Cheers and thanks

Leigh

PS. Just wanted to add how much I've enjoyed this, it has been great fun and has given me a real "buzz" being able to apply my "dubious" talents towards such a worthwhile enterprise. It will give me another "buzz" when I see that everyone has safely received their T.Shirts and the donations distributed to the charities.....Rock On!.

Absolutely Gail, providing that you could get me suitable pics with them walking left to right or right to left  (I could mirror the pic) accross the camera would work best also an un-complicated background would speed things up a lot. This would however take a little time to organise.

Cheers

Will have a look to see what pics I have - if not suitable, I will get snapping.  Though camera broke the weekend, was at a wedding and it FUBARRED  >:( , dont think the shutter is opening, it is making all the right noises for taking a photo but showing nothing  :(  Hubby hopefully is getting me a new one  :scared: .

If I get suitable photos. I will try and edit them in photoshop to remove the background. But I would send files with & without back ground.

will get searching, that is my new project  ;D ;D
Cheers Leigh your a star

That might be easier than it sounds but you're off to a promising start with a camera which has an opening shutter  :evillaugh:

Took me ages to get my three walking across the camera, I have hundreds of them climbing, laying down right way up and upside down, sitting, walking towards and away from the camera, eating, sleeping, tap dancing, juggling, whistling "dixie" but not walking across the camera. Alfie would stop and lay down as soon as the shutter went or change direction abruptly, I kept saying to him "can't you walk just one more foot in a straight line before doing that, it's not much to ask is it?" but would he listen?. Suzie lays on my pillow all day so the odds on her walking anywhere in daylight are extremely remote, Frankie is so lazy that if he could drive he'd have a car to take him around the flat, he never walks more than a foot or two before flopping down on the carpet, I think his ancestry is Californian  ;D

So "bon chance" as they say.

Cheers

Cheers mate.

Leigh

PS. I'm hoping that you don't want your T.shirt flown in by helicopter as that might raise the delivery cost a fair bit  ;D ;D

Good Afternoon folks,

I have just PMd most of you that have kindly offered to buy a T.Shirt so as to double check your order details and request information where required.

I have spoken to the supplier again this morning and they have confirmed pricing and are e-mailing me a P&P quote based on 1 or 2 T.Shirts and I will post this here as soon as I have it.

Just to confirm that you can have any of the three artwork designs on the front as single-sided, the Letterbox "Rockin' the Feline World" design + "My cat caught that gig!" where appropriate plus either of the other two artwork designs on the back as double-sided.

To those of you that are sending me pictures of your cats, I will start work on incorporating them ASAP and please could I ask you to confirm your design requirements eg.  your choice of front or fropnt/back artwork, quantity and size/s as well as delivery address details and I will confirm this with you prior to placing the order as well as showing you the t.shirt artwork/animation featuring your cat/s.

I will also be posting details of where and how to send payment later.

Cheers and thanks.

Leigh

PS. I have been back and forward through this posting and my PMs with a fine tooth comb and compilled a list in no particular order of those who'd like a T.Shirt as follows, if I have missed anyone I apologise and  please let me know ASAP:

Bazsmum
Christine (Blip) + OH
Ann Clarke (Tabby cat) (awaiting cat pics)
Tan
Sue P (Paddysmum) (cat pic received 100% A-OKAY)
Dawn F + OH
Stuart (Misty's Dad)
sandplangham +OH
Gail Bengal Slave (awaiting cat pic/s)

Hi folks,

I am delighted to announce that we are "good to go" on the T.Shirt front!!.

I have the final pieces of the jigsaw puzzle in place as follows:

The supplier has quoted me a blanket P&P charge of £2.50 per order for 1 or 2 T.Shirts so please include that in the pricing.

Tan has VERY kindly agreed to collect the money. This makes perfect sense as she is equiped to do so, we all know her and she can retain the charity donation component before paying the supplier thus making life very straightforward. I will send the artwork and order details to the supplier myself and liase with them.

Please send payment as follows :

Quote from Tan:

Yes all that sounds fine by me, If peeps want to pay by palpay, the email to use in their paypal account is purrs@purrsinourhearts.co.uk

or a chq to Purrs In Our Hearts
Address  removed by request from mod.

I can do a bank transfer to the printers or pay by debit card on the Purrs account.

-----

So totals are :

Single Sided T.Shirt £17.00 each
Double-sided T.Shirt = £20.00 each
P&P on orders for 1 or 2 T.Shirts = £2.50

IMPORTANT NOTE - THOSE WHO HAVEN'T DONE SO PLEASE PM ME THEIR CHOSEN DELIVERY ADDRESS DETAILS ASAP

And the following news now looks dull compared to the above  ;D

(http://www.leigh-kemp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/AlfieCat/Rolling_Stone_Letterbox_Cover small.jpg)

Thank you all you special people

Cheers

Hi Sheryl,

Glad you like it, yes he is top right :) or rather he WAS top right until I added another row at the top, see below :)

Tan I added  Marley and Garfield to the very top row, in between my bridge babe "Oli" and Clare's Maxy. I hope this is okay, if not please let me know, I'm running out of room without doing a new crowd scene, something I'm happy to do of course provided that we can get more cats! :).

I'm so pleased that everyone likes it.

Hi folks,

A little news update. We have quite a few of the monies in,   :thanks: very much.

I'm hoping that we will have received all monies by the end of the week and then I will send the artwork and order details to the supplier and Tan will pay them from the monies received and retain the charity donation component for distributing to the Charities. I will check with the supplier for an estimated dispatch date but they shouldn't take that long to print.

BTW. If you would like a T.shirt (with or without you cat/s on it) please let me know by the coming weekend (ideally a lot sooner if you are going to send me pictures of your cat/s) and then we can include them in this order.

Thank you all,

Cheers

Good Morning folks,

just to let you all know that I have e-mailed the order requirements to the T.Shirt suppliers/printers this morning along with my artwork and Tan will be making payment to them as soon as all the monies are in and they might well already all be in, just need a quick sanity check :)

So I'm hoping that, all things being equal, they will be printing them and sending them our real soon.

I am not entirely sure the exact figure raised for charity as some of you kind folks have very generously included a "top up" to their donation but I know that we have raised

AT LEAST "£136" for charity

 :garf: :garf: :thankyou:

with £100 going to Nine Lives/Paws for Life and the balance going into the Purrs Charity Fund and that's a very splendid and generous donation by you special folks.

I will publish full details of monies raised ASAP along with details of payment to Nine Lives/Paws.

I'm also hoping to be able to publish soon some very exciting news regarding Letterbox T.Shirts and Mugs etc..

Cheers and a big thank you for all your support

 "Rock On"

Letterbox and the Mogfather.

PS. I updated the animation again as promised a bit late for which I apologise to include all your cats in the crowd of "headbangers" or maybe Letterbox fans should be called "Letterboxers" ;D ;D

Revised total raised = £137.50

Thank you ever so much,

We should all have your T.Shirt soon.

   @ Sue, great turn of phrase even though it is isn't true.

Public Notice: Please note that the extent of my T.shirt supply liability doesn't extend to being swept away if a sudden gust of wind should blow up from an unexpected direction due to a failure on the part of the wearer to take adequate weather safety precautions. ;D

Henceforth to be know as the "Mary Poppins" clause.

Seriously though I really like the "look" the T.Shirt should be big enough to achieve it effortlessly.

Thanks for posting those up, Leigh  :Luv:.  I don't much like the picture of me by the side of the Thames, but it does illustrate my preference for baggy T shirts - and it shows one of the hand-painted T shirts I mentioned in http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,16393.msg280966.html#msg280966

Hiya,

Just to let you all know that Tan paid the T.Shirt suppliers and has popped a cheque in the post to me made out to Nine Lives along with one that we can enlarge as I intend to hand it over personally, as they are situated in London, and get some nice pics to share with you all. The T.Shirts should be popping through your letterboxes (excuse the pun)  ;D fairly soon now.

Cheers

Leigh

Oh and....

Just when you thought it was safe to open your web browser! :)

I've added a new scene for the animation  ;D ;D

BTW: the cat sitting on the JCB driving seat in the background is my beloved Bridge-Babe "Oli" who makes a few cameo appearances in the animation, like the chauffer of the limo :)

PS: Please let me know when your T.shirt/s arrive as I'm keeping a list, thanks.

Hiya,

Just to let everyone know, I sent the cheque from Purrs to the lady at Nine Lives/Paws for Life this morning. I was my intent to hand it over in person but I am unable to get into town for at least a week as I am taking my mum out tomorrow from her nursing home and I'd rather that she had the cheque as soon as possible so that it can straight away go towards looking after the elderly cats and cats with illnesses that they specialise in.

I will keep you all informed with any communications from the charity.

T.Shirts should be with you very soon.

Cheers

Leigh

Hi Sue,

Yes, thanks, had a very tiring but also a very good day, took mum into Kingston by bus, had a look around the charity shops then down to the river and a return journey to Richmond by river boat with a fish and chip lunch in Richmond. The crew on the boat couldn't have been more helpful unlike the complete idiot on a push bike who harred across the road crossing and almost hit us because he wasn't looking where he was going.

Hi Stu,

So pleased you received it okay, have fun and thank you very very much for your kind support.

   I love the Helideck crew vid, great stuff.

Cheers mate

Leigh

PS. Seeing your chariot makes my walk to work look dead boring, mind you I only have a 5/6 minute walk so it wouldn't be very fuel efficient I if got me one of those  ;D ;D

Actually I've been worrying a bit about the T-Shirt thing as there's the printers and the good 'ol Royal Mail to contend with and will sigh a sigh of relief when everyone has received theirs, that's why I'd ask folks to post when they receive their T-Shirt/s so that I can cross them off the list.

Hi Sheryl,

Thanks for letting me know, I'm really pleased that you like it.

They do seem to have been a bit generous on their sizes, I ordered a large one althought I'm most often a medium but sometimes a medium is a bit too small and my t-shirt is a bit large. I don't know how they vary so much, I buy other clothes such as trousers etc. where I know my waist and leg measurements and they fit perfectly, shirts where the collar and chest sizes fit just fine but t-shirt sizes seem to be a bit of a lottery. Check the size on the lable and see if it is the size that you ordered I tripple checked sizes and designs before I sent the order off but maybe they've made an error, anyway they are 100% cotton so they are good quality.

8 down 4 to go  ;D

all the best

Leigh

The quality is excellent.  The sizes are generous, which is why I think OH was eyeing mine up speculatively....  :evillaugh:  I may let him share, on occasion.  For a small fee, or a large whisky - whichever.   ;)
