Title: Microchip scanners this company doing good deals for rescues, just so you know!
Post by: Canterbury_cats (Sharon) on November 04, 2008, 11:59:40 AM
This company i have just ordered 2 chip scanners from.. They knocked off at least 30 quid for us. So if anyone wants to purchase or replace a chip scanner then please note.. Any CPs out there dont bother with HQ prices from Animal care much too expensive.. you will do better sourcing your own...This scanner reads both types A and B ISO standard but not the old encrypted chips..

Have you already paid for them Sharon? That scanner is probably the most annoying one I've ever used, the chip number doesn't stay on the screen long enough to write it down and it's not held in the memory.  You also have to press and hold the button the entire time you're scanning which can be tricky when you're trying to restrain an animal and when you don't find a chip you doubt yourself as to whether you were holding the button down  It may be that it's an updated model and the above features have been improved but if not I'd seriously see about getting a different model.  The one we have at the moment is much better, the chip number stays on the screen and you only have to press the button once to start scanning, it's also a much better shape.

it looks very similar to the one I have. You don't need to hold the button down all the time and I always manage to get the chip no. down (well ok, sometimes I have to rescan if my pen refuses to work!) ;D

Maybe yours is a later model then, we have that one in blue and you defo have to hold the button down whilst scanning and try to memorise the number, repeating it in your head while you to try and remember it  :evillaugh:
