Had Sophie at the vets 2 weeks ago with blood in urine, but no in and out trays or squatting and when I took her ,her bladder was empty.
She had 2 long lasting injections and earlier this week was a lot better.
Then last night late on , she went in tray , only did a tiny bit and was all blood , got up this morning and loads of spots of blood on kitchen floor .
Been to the vets today and he thinks he can feel something in her bladder and says she is bleeding a lot considering its almost 2 weeks ago she had this and seemed to be nearly better.
she is almost 18 (Remote possibility 19 ) .
She has also lost a little weight in 2 weeks , which she cannot afford to do as she is very lightweight now ( never really been a fat cat though, unlike Winston and Pandora - 2 barrels !! )
She has done a bigger wee on coming home tonight in the tray , but more blood than wee.
She has has. 2 injections tonight , Penicillin and painkiller. She starts Noraclav tomorrow and also Meloxidyl.
Need lots of Purrs healing vibes please.
What a crappy 2012 is already !!

   Poor Sophie and you. I really hope its not the big c and just an infection or something much less sinister. Snoozlez for Sophie and hugs for you. Xxxxx
-
Poor Sophie :( Hope it isn't anything serious
Hugs to you both
-
Hope this next lot of antibiotics and painkillers etc will do the trick, and that its nothing more sinister than an infection
-
oh dear, hope it is treatable, she must be in pain poor girl :'( i had a bladder infection once when i was in cornwall, i started weeing blood clumps  it was awfully painfull , it was just bad cystitis..Im hoping its the same for Sophie (without the pain part)and she makes a speedy recovery
-
So sorry to hear about Sophie Sending lots of get well vibes to her and   to you both
January has certainly been crap. In the last 24 hours I have learned of the deaths of 3 people that I knew very well
But the crocus are flowering in my front garden Keeping everything crossed for Sophie
-
Sending lots of good vibes for Sophie and hope that its nothing serious
Sending you some of these too Peggy
-
Well, there is no change today , a few blood spots ,one quite big on kitchen floor again.
Hope there is some improvement soon.
-
Sorry to hear Sophie is not well. Poor love sending lots of get well vibes :hug:x
-
Very sorry to hear this Gill, can't believe what a horrible time you're having lately :(
Hope it's not the news you are fearing and that she can make a full recovery from whatever is causing it
-
Oh dear, it must be distressing seeing her like this :( fingers crossed that she does turn the corner
Is the vet going to be doing further investigation or is it a case of seeing if the medication works first?
I do hope she does get better poor girl
-
Spoke to the vet tonight as I am concerned about all the blood.
He has said to continue with the abs and Meloxidyl over the weekend and to ring and update him on Monday.
The only thing he can do if no better is to try steroids , but you can't use steroids and Meloxidyl at the same time.
If the steroids don't work ,there is nothing else he can do .
Also due to the blood loss she will become anaemic if not careful.
I think deep down its getting near Sophie's time :'(
-
sending more    x
-
so sorry for you and your wee girl, I cant begin to imagine the pain it must be causing you :(
i so hope that the medication kicks in
-
I hope the meds work their magic for Sophie   I will phone you tomorrow
-
So sorry and hope that maybe there is a chance that the meds will work
-
   with you all the way, Bungly
-
Not sure whats going on with Sophie now.
There is a lot less blood , it's just watery now , but she still isn't weeing properly. It's like dribbles all over the tray inside and out , and she has weed on the old sofa in the kitchen, the floor and in her bed , which she has never done.
Nots sure if she is incontinent as well now !?
Had to go to London today back and feet were hurting the last few days and now they are both killing me .
I had already got the tickets , so had to go really.
It was very expensive after discussing it , totally out of my price range , so a waste of a day and back to the drawing board and finding somewhere else to get it done.
Then had Pauline meet me off the train to help a cat in need ! All sorted now and safe , at the vets tomorrow as its got a really sore mouth and is also unspayed so having that done as well.
Just sat down since 6.30 am ! I never do mornings either unless necessary !!
I am also washing all the stuff Sophie has wet !!
-
Are you going to speak with the vet about Sophie incase he has some good ideas
-
Yes, was going to ring him tonight, but wasn't expecting to go cat rescuing straight off train and took a couple of hours , so was almost 8 pm when I got home , so will ring him in the morning now.
-
Loads of luck
-
Spoke to the vet , he said to carry on till Monday with the meds.
If no better, start steroid injection depending on how she is.
To be honest, i don't think it will work either.
I thought the last 2 days there wasn't as much blood , in fact hardly any , then this morning there was a fair bit more !
She is also very thin , even though she has never been a fat cat like Winston is , she does look poor .
I think there is going to have to be a decision made in the next few days :'(
-
This is really heart breaking Gill and so soon after Smartie but know you will do what is best for Sophie no matter how it breaks your heart
We all have cats that we adore so much and its so hard at times like this.
-
poor Sophie

Oh Gill, the vet seems to be holding out for improvement, but only you know Sophie well enough to know when her time comes.
All strength to you and poor Sophie.
-
Sending   to you and Sophie
-
Oh Gill, I'm so sorry to hear about Sophie.
Healing thoughts and love to you both
-
I do hope Sophie gets better soon. It is such a worry when they are poorly.
-
I thought there was a bit of improvement yesterday, but backwards again today :(
There was blood all over the kitchen floor again this morning and she is weeing blood again , also there have been bits in it that the vet thinks may be polyps.
Not sure where we are going now , but it's not good

Sending lots of     tro you and Sophie.
The main thing is whether she is in pain, although losing a lot of blood cannot be good I think
-
Took Sophie back to the vets tonight to see what's going on as she is no better and it was blood clots she was weeing out !
He has scanned her whilst i was with her and watched the scan , it is definitely bladder cancer , you could see all the growths !
She has had a steroid injection and if it doesn't work in 48 hours to help her ,there is nothing else he can do .
If it does help , she goes back for another depending how she is next week , but he said she only has 2-3 weeks :'(
-
I'm really really sorry to hear this. Poor Sophie and poor you. My friend has had a rough day with her little cat today. It's heartbreaking.   for you both and as much positive energy as I can send. Xxxxxxxx
-
So sorry :(

-
so sorry to hear this..id been hoping it was just an infection :( poor poor Sophie. I may not be about much in the next two weeks but i will be thinking of you and sophie
-
Still up as Sophie does not seem at all well tonight , i think it must be the steroid injection . she just doesnt seem to be with it ! :scared:
Smartie had one and it made him hyper , Sophie is completely the opposite, she has gone very lethargic .
I am dreading going to bed now , i hope she will be ok .
-
:(
I'm here with you
-
I know what you are going through at this moment :'( so this is for you  and this xxxxx is for Sophie.
-
Oh, Bungly :( what sad news.
I hope you managed some sleep eventually and poor Sophie is a little happier today when the steroids get where they're going.

-
That's so sad. She's a good age though, and I hope her time left with you is as comfortable and happy as possible.
-
There is no change today , just hardly any blood , but she is hardly weeing either.
She isn't eating much either , just drinking .
Have given her some milk which she loves and has had that , but not much food at all.
She is very quiet and subdued.
Smartie was a lot better after his steroid injection and he ate well till the last day.
Will have to see how she is tomorrow, but she is looking like she has aged overnight :'(
-
So very sad
-
I was hoping for a more positive reaction to the steroid injection. Maybe she's further along than the vet first thought. :'(
I'm so very sorry, this is just awful after barely saying Goodbye to poor Smartie.
-
Sorry I haven't posted on this sooner
So sorry to hear about Sophie :( sending lots of healing vibes for her

Thinking of you both
-
  i jhope she improves overnight.
-
oh Gill this is so sad
-
There is no change today either, she will only half heartily lick at her food and has refused milk this morning.
It's like she has given up :'(
She is tucked up in her very big fleecy igloo with a snuggle pad and hot water bottle.
Was up with her till 4 am.
Add to the fact I have really bad sciatica all down my left side, in particular the back of my knee and can hardly walk or get comfy. 3 strong pain killers aren't doing anything either.
Roll on 2013 , 2012 is rubbish !
-
sorry she is just the same
hope your sciatica improves quick
-
Just to say, unless a miracle happens in the next 24 hours, Sophie will be going to the bridge tomorrow evening. Hope Smartie and Bungly are waiting to welcome her :'(

Thanks everyone.
The house seems empty now , 2 cats in 2 months :'( :'(
I had Sophie almost 14 years, she would have been 18 in April. I had Smartie 13 years too ,he was only 18 months when I got him. 14 and a half when he went to the bridge.
I miss my babies :'( :'(
-
And you gave them both amazing happy lives where they wanted for nothing and had the best of everything. It's so sad when our furries depart, but so many furries would love to have the life you can give them.
-
Gill Sweetie I am so so sorry, your text message only came throught this morning and have been having internet problems
I will phone you in the next couple of days
Thinking of you and sending big
RIP sweet Sophie, play hard at the Bridge and send your Mummy a sign that you arrived safely when you can. xxx
-
Gill, my thoughts are with you this quiet Sunday evening.
God bless little Sophie, Smartie and all the bridge babes with them xx
-
Every morning and every night I kiss the pot containing Pings ashes. I tell him I love him and that he is mummies boy. I cannot face the fact that he is not here so I close my eyes when I do it.
My heart goes out to you and I feel the pain you are going through
-
Thank you.
I get Sophie's ashes back on Friday I think.
I have to confess I kiss all my bridge babies photos every night and still tell Smartie he is mummy's special boy i had that put on his casket .
I miss all of them so much , the house feels empty, there is no- one lying on their back in front of the fire, no- one helping me eat my tea every night .
Fifi just sleeps and has never been overly sociable, Winston is affectionate, but goes to bed a lot ( him and Fifi are almost 14 ) Pandora will sleep on the sofa a few feet away, but there is no cuddler , that was Smarties job and no one else cuddles, and no one will cuddle like he did ,right into my shoulder and holding my hand.
-

So sorry Sophie, missed your yearly anniversary on the bridge :'(
Still love and miss you every day and found some battery tea lights to put with your picture on the memorial shelf in my bedroom . Blue for my boys and pink for my girls .
Look after each other and special cuddles and kisses to all of you .xxxxx

I've 'missed' Tiggy's anniversary before, except that I haven't really as I think of her throughout the whole year both before and after that day, I'm sure you think of Sophie too and remember the times you shared together and that's what counts, your memories
