I have been fostering for about 18 months now and have had many mummy cats with kittens but Fluffy is my first pregnant foster cat. So very nervous and excited about it all. Ive had some great advice from Angie and Judith and got their numbers ready for if anything happens! Just wondered from the piccies ( hard cos shes so fluffy) if anyone had an idea how long she may have left! And we can see if anyone can guess it right!
My hubby keeps teasing me and telling me shes just fat!
-
Keep the kettle hot!
Gosh, she looks positively blooming in the last photo.....

Yes i thought the last photo was good as she is so fluffy wasnt sure if you could really see in the others.
So the kettle bit i take it is soon then :scared:
-
:Luv: She's lovely, lots of luck for her and kittens xx
-
No idea on pregnant cats but just wanted to wish her and her midwife the best of luck! :)
-
Gosh she doesn't look as if she has long to go! I reckon there are around 5 in there. Sometimes they go a different shape just before they have them, and also she will start looking for somewhere to give birth quietly.
Good luck! :)
-
Looks big in the last pic! She will probably pop them all out whilst your asleep!

-
you are sure she's pregnant :shify:
true, could just be a bad case of wind, in which case I hope you're not around if she lets rip.
-
Any sign yet???
-
No Kittens or Wind yet!!!
-
I thought that would be news :innocent: I keep checking :)
-
Wow! She's huge!! Either she has loads of babies in her belly or she is having one giant one.... maybe she met a tiger in a back alley that fancied her?
-
Karen, you are as bad as me staying up late just in case anything has started to happen! We have invested in a camera so I can wake up in the night to check on Mum or Mum and kittens when they are born. It saves me going downstairs and helps Mum and kiittens bond without being disturbed. You will be tired keeping watch, it is like having a new baby yourself - well almost! :briggin:
-
I had a feeling last night that she was gong to have them - dont know why really. So i couldnt sleep and woke up this morning and straight away checked on her and still nothing! Sure shes teasing me :)
-
Still no news? :-:
-
stop making us wait Fluffy - we want to see you babies :Luv: :Luv: xx
-
Still nothing :-:
-
And still looking HUGE :Luv:
-
:scared: Ginormous,
bless her :Luv:
-
She's swallowed a Rugby ball!
-
Oh my goodness!
Lots of little or a few great big kitties! She looks relaxed enough.
Has she started making a nest yet (check your knicker drawer!)
-
rugby ball? more like a rugby player - there must be hundreds in there :shify:
-
Ok the one morning i decided not to run to her pen to see if she has had any! And when i did look in theres 2 already typical.
Well looks like 3 now so far but hard to tell as so far they are black like her so its hard to see whats her and whats kittens
All going well though dont think its her first time at this
Will keep you updated
-
oh bless her!
-
3 new covcats - how exciting!
-
Well done fluffy wee kitty on your new babies!
Karen judging by the size of her I doubt 3 is the final number. I bet she has a full football team in that giant belly.
-
There's got to be more in there, surely! :shify:
Well done so far though. :)
-
Bless her heart, hope the rest of the young 'uns arrive soon. (Yes, I agree - definitely more than three. ;))
-
Well ive now calmed down abit, morning stress of trying to keep an eye on her but keep my five excited children out of the room as not to disturb her. This meant that not only did i miss the birth of the first 2 everytime i went to sort the kids out she sneaked another kitten out :shify:
I managed to catch her eating the afterbirth of number 4  and was really thinking i wasnt going to experience watching a kitten come into this world. The kids luckily were arranged to go to there friends for a few hours today so just before i dropped them off there i peaked in and she turned around to have her back end right infront of me and had number 5! :Luv:
Had a bit of a panic phoning Angie as ive not watched this before and 10 mins after she still hadnt had the afterbirth so the kitten was hanging from the cord to her still but she had cleaned it of and it had managed to latch on. But angie said it was fine for awhile like that so panic over.
Then ran round my friends dragging my 3 year old poor thing, chucked them at her and ran back. Now mum curled up sleeping with her 5 lovely kittens suckling fine. There wasnt much time between 2 and 5 about 1hour and 20 mins and its been almost 2 hours since number 5 so i think thats it. 5 is great for me though cos my kids like to name one kitten each when we have kittens come in so no fighting over that one.
-
Well done Karen (and of course Fluffy!)
You may find another one or two later. Treacle here had her second 2 about 5 hours after her first two and of course there was the one that had her last kitten 36 hours after......
If you fuss mum and feel any lumpy bits inside it could indicated another one in there......
-
Well done mum! :naughty:
-
Lucky 5 - WELL DONE Fluffy :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: -
-
Congratulations Karen and Fluffy! :Luv2:
-
Well done Fluffy :Luv: :Luv:
and Karen x

Some piccies of mum and babies just a few hours old. The piccie of mummys face is because if you can see that between her chin and her paws theres a little kitten just stopped suckling for a moment and turned to have a hug with her mum, it lookedso cute but as shes the one with the white face you cant see her very well on the piccie, just see her pink nose next to mummys paw :Luv:
The rest look mainly black with a few white feet and the one at the end of the last photo looks tabby but its hard to see most of them as they blend in with mummy
-
As you can see she decided to remove the puppy pad id put down and mess up her nice new bed :-:
-
Awww, bless them all :Luv: :Luv:
-
:birthday:
:congrats:

:1st place: Fluffy ;D
I bet your kids are over the moon, and how nice for young kids to be involved in fostering cats/kittens :) You see so many times people being told they can't adopt a cat if they have kids under 5

it depends on the children. i took a young cat in yesterday. the estranged child was home for the weekend and was found to be strangling the cat having pulled out some of her fur. 4 year old's dad decided opinion was to rehome the 4 cats (3 from us). hopefully now the young one is in, the other 3 will stay out of her way......

It's the blanket bans that annoy me, I hope to have a baby sometime in the future so according to some rescues that would mean my home is no longer suitable for the boys  Obviously it's important to home the right cat with kids but very sad to just have a blanket ban.

Totally agree its funny how with some rescues i wouldnt be able to even adopt an animal because of my kids but how they have helped care for so many foster cats and kittens. I think its good for both the cats/kittens and the kids to grow up together they can learn so much from each other. Of course i had to be careful at first to make sure my kids esp the younger ones were gentle and respected any cat that came in, but now i know they know and are all very careful. The kids love it and are great when they leave to go to their new homes as they know when one goes another one coming in is never far behind.
They were great this morning as soon as i told them she was having the kittens they were quiet and went to the other room to watch tv.
But do agree with Angie in a way i think its the depends on the parents to how they bring the kids up in relationship to pets and how to respect them. Poor little one you have in Angie hope s/he is ok. It angers me so much when you here this as thats the reason rescues dont rehome to young familys and so many cats are missing out on so many loving familys
-
Thats just made me realise how lucky i am. Thankyou so much Angie for letting me become a fosterer it means so much to me and my kids to be able to help and experience things like this mornings birth knowing i will see kittens grow up and go to new homes and mummy be spayed and homed. :Luv:
-
awww how sweet are those bubs and mum xxx :Luv: :Luv:
-
Great pictures ;D
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Lovely photos ;D Love the little mackeral tabby baby :Luv:
I don't agree with blanket bans on homing with babies or young children at all and think it should be looked at on a case by case basis.

Congrats and happy birthday to the little ones!
-
Congrats to Karen and her fluffy babes. I have always thought it good for children to be brought up with pets. They should learn to respect other living creatures and that leads on to respecting people. I'm astounded nowadays (As Covcats peeps know I'm very elderlly!) that children are allowed to get away with such bad behaviour as to hurt animals, where's the discipline? Why on earth are naughty children pandered to all the time? My own children and grandchilren have always been around cats (even withstanding asthma and allergies) and know how to treat them. It's not difficult. Oh well, rant over. Karen the kits are gorgeous and mummy's very clever. Angie, Kitten cam is addictive. Pic is of a Covcat babe who went to live in Somerset with my daughter and has developed 'strante' habits!!!
-
Oh, sorry - typo. STRANGE habits
-
Some more piccies taken last week :Luv:
-
See they are just entering the interesting stage.
Lovely kittens , hopefully we will have no trouble homing them!
-
Well hopefully a girl has been reserved and the lady doesnt mind what colour which is nice for a change. And Esther has just emailed me to ask if she can come for a visit to see them at the weekend in which im sure at least the tabby boy :Luv: will be reserved. Thats of course if they can get him past steve as he is quite attached, which is strange for someone who says he is not into cats spends most of his time with the tabby boy or talking to the very vocal older black boy here :shify:. Secret cat lover i think ;)
-
;D Glad all is going well Karen, have kept meaning to ask
lovely pics :Luv: :Luv:

Oh my, The first picture looks like a mirror image of Emily (RIP) my little friend that lived until she was 22. They are adorable! Good to hear you are already interest in rehoming them.
