The family who adopted Frodo & Sam have just rung me and asked of they can have a kitten to keep Frodo company and are going to look as soon as possible at one of the ginger kittens shown on the Gallery of my site www.chesterfieldcats.co.uk, possibly the one you can see has just been spayed. Although a very sad reason to adopt another cat/kitten at least Sams passing has not been in vain as another little one will have a wonderful new home.

:Luv: Thats some good news in all this sadness Ela, I wish them, Frodo and their new puss all the best.
-
Excellent news .... I hope Frodo takes to his new friend.
-
Aww thats great news, hope Frodo finds another little hobbit friend :Luv:
-
Thats a great tribute to Sam, he will be very pleased up there on the bridge ;D
-
Aww, I hope things work out well, and that Frodo accepts a kitten.

Ela did you tell me it was liver cancer that sam had ?? (or did i imagine that) anyway i was just wandering if frodo has been tested for fiv/felv ? With the many threads we have had on it lately i cant remember if you routinely test everything altho my suspicion is that you do.
-
Yes, it was liver cancer, No we don't test every cat for FIV/FeLV. If we are dealing with a colony of ferals some are tested. All strays that come in as unneutered males are tested and also any other cats the vet feels they need to test.
Our vets always seem to get it right. Occasionally they will say we don't think it is but would like to test just to confirm, in every case they have been right, and those case they have been almost 100% sure they too have been right.
The previous owner of Frodo and Sam was a little concerned about Sam. He actually told me that a few days ago.
Frodo is absolutely fine and very happy and settled in his new home.

The kitten is 6 months old and I am sur Frodo will acceppot it as he seems very placid.

how old was sam ela. I was just thinking if he was relatively young(ish) it maybe wouldnt be such a bad idea to test frodo before the new babe goes to live with him.
-
He is 12 and they have always been indoor cats.
-
oh right, for some strange reason i thought they were much younger than that. Probably just one of those unfortunate things then.
-
Perhaps the previous owner smoked.
-
I'm sure Sam would love Frodo to have cat companion again Ela.
Hoping they get on well together.

I am sure she would be happy knowing she has help another little one have a secure and happy life.
-
I do hope a 6mo isn't too young for him, it isn't a combination I personally would do, cos mine haven't liked any of the fosters I have had under the age of 1.
-
I am sure he will be fine, we home hundreds of cats a year and it works out very well, only once in 16 yrs has a cat has a cat had to come back because the resident cat was not happy. Obviously we now know the temperament of Frodo and also the kitten and we are sure all will be well.

I have just spoken to our fosterer who lives near Frodos new owner as Frodos old dad has just e-mailed me asking for a photo). Frodos new owner was at Pams house telling her all about Frodo and the kitten, they seem to be getting on already.
