I've ordered some silver vine sticks for my two to try. Was hunting around for plants that cats like to make a pot up for them to graze on and saw this. I'd never heard of it before.

I had never heard of it either. But googled it, and it seems perfectly safe for cats.

I think it's basically an Asian cat nip.
-
It is related to kiwi fruits. It comes from a fruit vine. But has the same effect, only stronger of catnip. I have just ordered some and sent it to my sister for her indoor cat. Don't know why I didn't order some for my lot. Must do that.

I suppose I will have to set up and ebay account so I can get some for the hoolies ;D

My other post seems to have gone missing.......My boys showed no interest in the toys I bought with it in.
-
You can get it on Amazon UK. But it is very expensive compared to ebay.

Then maybe I won't waste any more money buying some for my lot. I'll wait and see what my sister's cat thinks of it before I buy some for my cats. I sent her a stick, and a stuffed roll thing.

The silver vine sticks have arrived, cats quite like them but not overwhelmed. They are much keener on the valerian toys and normal cat nip. I saw a video of maru with the silver vine but it's the actual plant, he seemed to like it but Hana seems to hate it! :evillaugh:

It is a bit expensive, isn't it and it comes from Japan so will take an age to arrive

And from the sound of it, not every cat bothers with it. Maybe better to stick with British catnip. Cheap, and easy to get.

Probably like catnip then, some cats ignore that too

My cats got a silvervine toy from their secret santa a few years ago, and they loooove it. It is a huge success. They tore the paper to shreds the moment they could lay paws on it.

Mine got the sticks which were 2.99 for 2 from ebay. I might try the dried leaf or a toy with stuff inside as think that would be better. They like all of the other stuff like catnip, valerian, honeysuckle.
