Title: Pen juggling
Post by: Teresa Pawcats on March 10, 2007, 12:46:35 PM
Now I am worried been trying to find space for mum and 4 babies who are coming in this afternoon and now there is another emergency one on its way here. It seems I am the only rescue in this area that answers the phone grrr, better go and see what I can juggle.

I know that feeling only too well. It seems so unfair, doesn't it? Although I find these rescues who are not available are surprisingly available when people want to make a donation (other than a cat ot more usually cats).

Major pen juggling complete with a few minutes to spare phew!

Wisp very kindly with huge bribery and lots of growling agreed to be moved to our outside kitten playpen, acyually much more roomy for her and an outside run.

Christy bless his soul has been evicted from his pen and literally been put in the feral cat room, thankfully we know that any cat friendly neutered male is always welcomed by the 4 ferals whose room it is.

The new arrival now called Lemony Snickett had thrown up everywhere and needed a good clean up, shes pure white 5-6 years old and her ears are going to need treatment for sunburn.

So now waiting for the mum and babies to arrive and I know they are in a mess.

Ela you are spot on re donations but I`d rather have the cat anyday although donations are essential

Well I feel quite pleased with myself despite having no room when I started this morning, Lemony Snicket is settled into her pen and Mum and babies are busy settling into theirs, poor mum is too hungry to pay any attention to her squealing kittens at present and declines to have her picture taken at the moment.

Christine kittens were born on 13th February, owner evicted and passed them to relative to care for but relative hated them and didnt look after them, so owner has handed them to us, one kittens eye hadnt opened so I have sorted that and thankfully have the right medication to treat the infection until vet opens Monday.

Lemony Snickett found wandering on very busy road and been stray for a while, picture doesnt show it but her ears are folded in half backwards they are so burnt,so vet is going to be a very busy man on Monday.

Mum is 15months old

Aww, such sad stories. Now you have explained her ears, it does explain why they look different in the pic. Fingers crossed for positive news at the vets on Mon.

Aww, such sad stories.

Sad stories indeed ,but sadly an everyday occurrence in rescue, Hopefully it helps to make people understand why most members of Purrs we are so for neutering and spaying. Quite simply there are too many cats and kittens and not enough caring homes.

Names

When aunty Claire comes to do her weekly cuddling session tomorrow she will choose the names for mum and her babies, cats need a break from my mad names and Claire is head of naming.

Lemony Snickett I think is a childrens book, the name jumped into my head when cleaning her up.

Good news about their eyes. I had a wry smile when I read that your vet is coming to you - I trust he'll offer a bulk discount  ;)

Christine during kitten season and when I am really full like now the vet visits on a regular basis and at a good rate, in fact it works out cheaper than all the individual consultations, and best of all no stressful journeys for the cats.
Also gives the vet chance to check that my standards remain consistently high. I am taking Vega and Grumbleweed in for spay and microchip in the morning ,if I am really lucky vet will probably bring them home for me when he visits in the afternoon.
Must admit I`ve got wonderful vets :)

Sending Jessica and babies lots of love and cuddles xxxx

Wondering if I can sneak the second from the right in my bag when I visit  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
