I said I could understand, MM. Not only would it cost them a fortune, the person selling would continue to see a cat as a commodity. >:(

Just looked it up - most rescues won't get involved because they're asking for £150.  :tired: I can understand why they won't pay the money it's just terribly frustrating someone is being this irresponsible.

Same reason you dont, money doesnt grow on trees   :( and theres plenty of other things to be spending £150 on other than lining some idiots wallet.
Sadly cant save the world and theres plenty of free ones suffering on the streets

fair point Angie, I would never pay someone like this but you can't help but wonder - I will look into the petition thing, can't hurt even if we just sign it - I think I remember the number 10 website had a system set up

Just a word of caution to you all.

There are spammers on thse sites who take money up front for deposits for pedigrees or to help with petrol costs etc and lo and behold no cat.

This cat is probably not a pedigree (in fact no papers - no pedigree) and to me it sounds as though the ad is trying to prey on the greed of people who think that £150 will get them a pedegree cat and some 'near pedigree' kittens to sell on.

If theres a pregnant cat involved then its sad - I would not pay to take a cat into rescue.

I think breeders need to have some kind of lience to breed personally and anyone found breeding any animal without this lience has there pets taken away simple as that.

I fully agree as dog breeders have to be licensed therefore so should cat breeders in my opinion. I think all breeders should be subject to random spot checks to check that their animals are being cared for properly and if people have any outdoor accomodation it should have to be up to a specific minimum standard with regard to size, ventilation, natural light etc.
I also think that breeders should be made to neuter their animals by a set age as I think it is awful to hear of cats that are 10 years old and still a stud cat (I've heard of one who was 16   :() or 8 year old females having litters.

Does anyone know how to go about setting up a petition? Surely if one was set up and signed by enough people the government would have to do something?

Poor baby, that is absolutely heartbreaking that she's on her 3rd litter at such a young age :'( I hope the woman sees sense and signs her over to a rescue or at the very least the cat finds a loving home with people who will spay her asap.

I've been saying the same for ages, I'm sure it could be done, there must be someone clever enough in government to work it out

It is really heart breaking to see. I think breeders need to have some kind of lience to breed personally and anyone found breeding any animal without this lience has there pets taken away simple as that.As there are far far to many people who see pets as money making machines and until this kind of thing is put into place we will sadly see many many more adds like this one :( :( :(

poor baby but I don't think you can do anything more then reply with rescue contact number. Sadly this person probaly just wants the money.Never pay for a cat like this or a kitten as you are only lining their pockets and they will do it again. I know its sad but you just have to walk away. I have seen a couple of raggies like this add this past week and a ragdoll kitten who was only 4 weeks old and my heart says go get them and save them but my head knows that if I do they will do it again and again so as hard as it is to do so I send an email letting them know the ukrcc is there if they want our help but then I have to walk away :(

I would still get Siamese rescue a call as they may be able to speak some sense into her.. Agree to get her spayed etc.

i agree Sharon, especially that amount of money, it would pay for quite a lot for more needy cats. i suspect she wont sign over, she wants the money, i just hope she gets a decent home
Please spay your cat

I actually completely disagree with paying for a cat to come into rescue.. perhaps common sense previals and she may sign over... Esp if the situation for rehoming is urgent.. Surely they will want the best for her... but to pay is not what we are about.. Thats my view anyhow
