I know that there are so many demands on people's generosity but this year once again I am taking part in a five-mile Walk for Freedom on Wimbledon Common on Saturday 12th September to raise money for Animals Asia Foundation.
In countries across Asia, thousands of bears live a life of torture on bear farms so that their bile can be extracted and used in traditional medicine to treat ailments ranging from headaches to haemorrhoids. Bears are confined in cages which vary from agonisingly tiny "crush" cages to larger pens, all of which cause terrible physical and mental suffering.
Animals Asia Foundation rescues bears from bear farms. You can find out more about the charity, which also protects companion animals – cats and dogs – from the food and fur trade, at http://www.animalsasia.org and http://www.animalsasia.org/blog/
Please sponsor me and help to save these sentient beings from a life of unrelieved suffering. You can donate at http://www.justgiving.com/ChristineMoonBears/
Thanks for reading: thanks for caring.

I'm just bumping this up as it's payday for lots of us this week ;) and my walk is in a couple of weeks' time. Any donation, large or small, will help save bears, cats and dogs from suffering.

Firstly, :thanks: to Mark, Helen and Ann for your sponsorships.
Secondly, thanks to everyone for your good luck messages. We completed the walk this morning :wow: and are now back home. It was a lovely day and I hope there was a good turnout - certainly the booth was attracting a lot of interest from dog walkers on the Common so raising awareness of Animals Asia's work ;D
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
-
Well done you, a wonderful cause ;D
-
:) Glad it went well Christine, I was thinking about ya, well done

Well done, C. Glad you raised what you did :Luv: Hope the legs are being well looked after tonight by Her Blipness. :Luv2:
-
Your fundraising efforts are going well - I have left a small donation
Good luck

Well Done Christine, had I attempted such a fete I would still be on the common sleeping soundly after the first 50 yards  How did your time compare to last years ?
-
:thanks:  Yvonne.
We were slightly slower than last year, Teresa, but we still managed 100 minutes - exactly three miles an hour - which is not bad considering that we're both sadly out of condition :-[
-
Christine realised how much more effort you had to put in with being out of condition so put a bit more effort into my donation

I've had a pretty boring day dealing with some trolls on this forum - I had better things to do - but it pales into insignificance because I've now hit the £500 mark for Animals Asia :wow:
http://www.justgiving.com/ChristineMoonBears/
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
Your donations mean the world to me: but they mean freedom from agony for those poor bears, which is much, much more :thanks:
-
:wooooo: :wooooo:
Well done!! Well worth it. ;)
-
Brilliant, thats just made my day
-
I've heard from Animals Asia that the walk raised some £3600 for the cause. I'm so proud that my friends, here and from my other 'lives', are between them responsible for nearly 15% of that total  :thanks:

well done, Christine
I'm delighted to say the Chinese medicine shop which opened in Carmarthen has gone bust - that so many animals suffer terribly and are even threatened with extinction to keep a few wealthy Chinese happy I find utterly abhorrent
