Best wishes for little sarnie  :Luv:

You need a kitty sling for him so he can snuggle all day long

In our local "Range", they do a "ferret" bag, basically a bag for ferrets to hide in, but it makes a brilliant pouch for carrying little ones around in and even has a strap to put over your shoulder.  If you thinik it would help little Sandwich I will get you one and post it up there. :Luv2:

They are all lovely and sound like they have lovely characters. I wish you the best of luck and I'm so sorry about the bridge baby. I'm certain that they are in the best place now though.

Well, little Sandwich continues to worry us.  :( After consulting with Caroline, we are going to reduce the amount we feed him but increase the frequency as we may be in danger of overloading him with protein. He shows no interest in the food bowl, while all the others are getting better at eating. He does love a cuddle and the minute I sit down, he's crawling up my leg. But usually he just sits in the corner of the pen all by himself curled in a tiny ball.  :'( We're giving him lots and lots of cuddles and strokes and he does manage to odd purr.  :briggin: I have to say, though, we're viewing every day with Sandwich as a bonus.  :Luv: :'(

Dover is still small, but we can see he has grown a little and are hoping he may be alright. He's also a mummy's boy and loves to sit on my lap keeping Sandwich company.  :Luv:

The other 3 are improving well and much more active than when they arrived, and although Hastings still has the trots, he's keeping his intake of food and water very high and so hopefully the vet will be able to give him to meds for this soon.  ;)

Here's a few basic piccies. Hastings decided to avoid the paparazzi.  :evillaugh: But he is now transformed into a little piglet who loves his new diet, and is the most improved of the lot so I forgive him anything.  :briggin:

After a chat with Caroline, our welfare officer, and Isobel the vet nurse, we concluded that the smallest of these babes were not weaned properly. The lady who had been attempting to hand rear them following their mum rejecting them, thought she saw them eating and assured me that were eating Felix well when in fact, all they could do was lick the gravy. Slowly, they have been wasting away and some have developed the trots.  :'(

I'm now syringe feeding Sandwich and Dover and they're gulping it down. With any luck, the sensitivity diet will calm their bowls down n a few days. All we can do is keep at it and hope they pull through.  :Luv2:

I'm so sorry to hear of the little one losing their fight... sometimes no matter what we do we can't save them... but it never ever makes it easier to lose them.   I know just how hard it can be to lose the little ones.

I think that's a lovely idea to have him cremated and at least that way he will have somewhere to call home. :)

Good luck and lots of positive vibes for the remaining teenies.  Just remember that you're doing your best for them and without you none of them would be here.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts.

It bothered me that this little one went to the bridge without a name, so I've decided that in acknowledgement of where I live, the remaining 5 will be named after the Cinque Ports - Romney, Hythe, Hastings, Dover and Sandwich.  :Luv2:

Pics will be taken and uploaded this afternoon, but first we have the grim task of taking the bridge babe to the vets.  :'(

I just looked at the bag and it looks like there is only 1/2 left. I also have 1/2 bag of sensible 33 if that's any good? - The sensible 33 is the sensible diet but not as much so as the 33 I think?

You could also take some of the orijen (grain free) if that's any help? - it's 75% meat + 25% fruit vegetables, prebiotics etc.

Mark, dry would be fine. The bigger ones look as though they may like to try biscuits. For the smallest, I can soak them. They'll be really useful. I'll call you later to arrange a drop off. Thanks!

I've just checked the others and they are sleeping soundly. Terry and I are still reeling because we thought they would pick up now after the vet visit. I'm not taking more chances than I need to, though, and I'm going to liquidise some food and syringe feed the smallest 2 as I'm not sure they're eating anything yet. I've tried finger feeding and they seem to be gagging on the lumps. I think this woman they came from, who told me they were all eating okay, wasn't looking very well and probably the little ones were just surviving on licking the gravy.  :(

I'm going to ask the vet to send the little one off for cremation, as I can't bury him without digging up the patio. I can't do anything else for him...  :'( :'( :'(

Sorry Julie,

As Lesley said, the others wouldn't be around if it wasn't for you. You could only do your best against the odds

The food is dry - is that OK? - It's RC S/O - annoying as I had a box of wet and ended up mising it in with the hedgie food to use it up. Just want to double check that it isn't specifically for kittens?

Anyway, don't know the best way of getting it to you - just let me know

I bough it for Alice originally but she wouldn't eat it.

RIP Little one x

Please keep up the brilliant work you are doing with these kits....and the very best of luck with them!  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

...Makes me angry though to think of all the people who are breeding and putting in ads for ridiculous prices....how dare they? Have they ever truly thought about how things in birth etc can go wrong!  >:(

Oh, yes please, Mark!  :) Bournes only had enough to last them for about 3-4 days so I'm going to need some more.  ;)

They seem to be perking up a bit already. The bigger 2 are even playing.  :wow: We've had a few 'motions' as well, and I've never heard kittens pass wind quite like it. Their poor intestines must be in a hell of a state.  :(

Glad things are looking up for them - If they have any chance then they couldn't be in a better place right now. I have an almost full bag of RC sensitive. The vet one. If it's any good, let me know and I can drop it over to Caroline next week.

UPDATE

The vet says although they are in a bad way, we've got them just in time. They are suffering from malnutrian and starvation as well as probably lots of worms. The lady that had them was probably doing just enough to keep them alive, but they haven't been thriving for weeks by the look of things. The immediate plan is to worm them (Panacur paste) and start them on a diet of Royal Canin sensitivity. I've also got to give them a pinch each of Protexin each day.

It's possible 1 or 2 may have to go on a drip if they deteriorate, but for now they have all tucked into this new food and seem to quite like it.  :)

We will worry about the sticky eyes later as they can't have antibiotics yet, so just the usual bathing.  :shy:

When OH returns home tomorrow with the camera, I'll get some pics. They are so pretty! B & W but all splodgy!  :briggin:

Thanks, all!  :Luv:

I'm wondering if they might have enteritus. This mucus looked like pure bile to me.  :( Our vets are brill and bound to have all the stuff I'll need. All I can do at this stage is wait for 4pm to come.

Not had a great deal of luck with kittens so far this year.  :tired:

Julie if they won't eat, try syringing them some glucose dlluted in water, at least it would give them some energy to fight.  I keep some karo syrup that I got from the States for my real sickly ones, it was recommended in one of my handrearing books and I couldn't get any here, it's basically a corn syrup I think, but basically an energy boost.  Also have nutri drops which do the same thing.

It's heartbreaking to see such little babes suffering, all  :Luv2: and  to all of you .
