There's no human kids here so I guess Jock and the cats are fur kids!  I don't actually call them the kids" but I do class myself as Jocks's Mum!  All the Christmas and Birthday cards we send, I always sign them from me & hubby, Jock, Amber & Kaddu!  Sometimes I'll draw a little paw print too!

I have to say I refer to my cats collectively as 'The Kids'. Luckily my birth kids don't mind.

Cat slave fits the bill. I know my place. ;)

Another vote for slave here too!  The amount of times I've done something (Trivial things) and received the dirtiest look from Kaddu as if I'm no more than something she's trodden in lol

I don't mind being called an 'owner' although I know I'm also a slave!

At the rescue I help with, we do refer to the folk adopting cats as 'new owners'

I saw a similar recent Fbook post about how someone doesn't like referring to their cats as 'pets' as they consider them family instead. Although I consider them as family I think I just refer to them by name or 'the cats'

   Cloveart.  You are a cat owner, just not in the conventional sense.  Kizzie and Tiggie view you as "theirs."

Sadly, there are a lot of people out there who will get a cat, and then the minute they discover they're pregnant, the cat is out of the door.  All sorts of reasons and excuses are offered, and some of them have some validity, but others....?   :-:

I wish I was a cat owner, but as I go to work it would not be fair to the cat.

I have a neighbour who goes on holiday and leaves her cat to fend for itself, although she does get one of her immediate neighbours to feed him. It doesn't seem fair to me. She acquired the cat from another neighbour who had a baby and felt they did not get on with each other. Instead of offloading the baby, the cat had to go.

Its not possible to "own" a living creature.  "Our" lot live with us.

Not quite sure exactly who the paying guests are though as they never shell out a bean or lift a paw for that matter  :shify:

It depends on the context. If it was in relation to veterinary treatment or liability I wouldn't object. In any other scenario I'm their meowmy/ mummy or slave. I quite like Jackson Galacy's "guardian". Let's face it, we all know who owns who  :shify:

I'm definitely a slave to the Hoolies.

It doesn't bother me too much being called an owner. Probably because I know different  ;D

I'm very emotionally invested in cats.

I've never refereed to myself as an "owner".

To me the word is cold and unloving, it makes it sound like I do not love my cats, that they're nothing but cats to me.
To me, cats are furry children that never grow up...  :Luv:
can understand owning a car or a house but not another living being.

I've always called myself Daddy when it comes to cats. I also use carer or caregiver as that is what we/I do, we/I are our cats caregivers. :Luv:

Does anyone else feel the same?
